A jump-off point for travelers and adventurers who are on their way further up northern Philippines (Sagada, Banaue...) The main city of Baguio is not at its best now. It is full of taxis, traffic, people, garbage. The city does not provide much space. Still, it is the city that was once of beauty; a
nd despite the abuse and destruction of man to her, is still loved. You can easily spend the day in Baguio and go home to La Trinidad where we offer an authentic alternative-living experience. Come to Tawang Paradise for clean, cool air: coolest at 12˚C at 2:00 to 4:00 in the early mornings. Warmest at 28˚C in the heat of the day. Aside from Phoenix Distillery which makes wines and spirits from fruits and herbs in season, The Paradise Project also espouses alternative building with clay and lime, waterless toilets, and a simple way of life that follows nature. Tawang Paradise is reachable by car, by cab, and by local jeepneys. What we offer:
• Place to stay
o Multipurpose barn-like pad/bar/coffee shop-- with sleeping area and living room. o Campsite – there are terraces of green grass to set up camp. o Clay house/shelter- it is where we live; a 5 minute walk from the barn, it is in the process of completion. Momentarily, we can set up tent in the shelter for those who want to stay. A loft for bedrooms will one day be made. It is a good, quiet space for travelers who wish to rest.
• Food
o We can serve healthy food, vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Meals will vary depending on season and availability of food items. A simple menu list will be provided. o Organic wine and distilled fruit schnapps are made by the family
• Company of the family
o The host family has been residents of the community for close to 15 years now. Zelimir is from Croatia and Joni is a local. Every now and then, friends of the family come to the mountain for a breather, a night or a few days’ stay. For this, we’d love to extend to others a place any traveler can call a home away from home, aliens and locals alike. It is a rest home for the tired weary traveler, a place of sharing, a place for recluse.
• How to get there
o Almost a hectare of forested sloping mountain 4000 ft above sea level. It is 5 kms from the main city of Baguio, a 15-60 min car drive depending on traffic; and 5 minutes from the busy municipality of La Trinidad. o There are three ways to get there:
Lubas- from Baguio, you take a taxi for a Php 120.00 fare. Two jeepney rides will take you here for Php 8.50
Ambiong- Taxi fare is Php 100 more or less
Tomay- you enter Tawang Paradise from the north, by taxi.
