A True Spirit of Binnadang

True education extends far beyond the four walls of the classroom, taking root in the very communities we are sworn to serve. Driven by an unyielding commitment to environmental stewardship and communal responsibility, the College of Teacher Education student organizations—including SEPTS, SOFTLE GEMS, FECEA, FuSES, PRESMATHED, SAMAFIL, VALEDORG, SNAP, and SEE—united in powerful solidarity alongside Project W.E.A.V.E.R.S. for the Pre-service Teachers’ Binnadang Clean-Up Drive Initiative. Grounded in the enduring spirit of binnadang, this massive collaborative effort successfully pushed through on October 5, transforming shared spaces and proving that real leadership begins with proactive service. As future educators, we recognize that shaping a sustainable tomorrow starts with caring for the earth today. By sweeping away waste and clearing pathways hand in hand, we are not just cleaning our surroundings—we are weaving a culture of accountability, resilience, and deep-rooted care for the generations to follow.

💛 YOUR LIFE MATTERS 💛

In observance of World Su***de Prevention Month, the Secondary Education Pre-service Teachers' Society (SEPTS) joins the call to break the silence surrounding mental health and to remind every learner, teacher, and member of our community that no one has to carry their struggles alone. As Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" — a truth we hold onto as we extend compassion to those who may be quietly hurting.

This advocacy holds deep significance for the academic community, as classrooms are often where the earliest signs of emotional distress are seen — and where the earliest support can be given. Raising awareness on su***de prevention helps break the stigma around mental health struggles and encourages open, judgment-free conversations that can save lives.

As pre-service teachers, we recognize that our role extends beyond delivering lessons — we are called to be observant, compassionate, and approachable figures in our learners' lives. Through this campaign, SEPTS commits to becoming advocates of mental health awareness within our future classrooms, equipped not only to teach, but to listen, to notice, and to reach out. Because sometimes, the most important lesson we can offer is simply letting someone know: you are seen, you are valued, and you are not alone. 💛

In celebration of Benguet Teachers' Day, the Secondary Education Pre-service Teachers' Society (SEPTS) in partnership with the Mayor of La Trinidad, presents this heartfelt publication material as a tribute to the teachers of our beloved province—educators who brave valleys, hills, and mountains, undeterred by distance or difficulty, just to deliver quality education to every Benguetenio learner. As Honorable Mayor Roderick C. Awingan of La Trinidad beautifully expresses, our teachers are more than instructors; they are nurturers of minds, builders of skills, and molders of the moral values that will define our nation's future leaders.

This celebration carries deep significance for the province of Benguet, as it strengthens the bond between the academe, the local government, and the community in recognizing education as a shared responsibility. It is a reminder that the resilience and dedication of Benguet's teachers directly translate into a stronger, more empowered generation of youth—one equipped not just with knowledge, but with the values needed to uplift their communities.

As pre-service teachers, SEPTS members hold a special place in this celebration. Did You Know?

The African Tulip or Spathodea campanulata is nicknamed the fountain tree because its unopened flower buds hold water and burst open when touched or ripe scattering seeds everywhere. A single tree can spread across wide areas very quickly. Native to tropical Africa it was brought to the Philippines and planted as an ornamental because it grows fast and shows off stunning clusters of bright orange red tulip like flowers that also earned it the name Flame of the Forest.

The activity Oplan Alis: Removal of African Tulips Tree was done on September 24 2026 at the College of Teacher Education Fishpond. CTE SEPTS carried out this task because the tree is one of the world’s worst invasive species. It grows faster than almost all native plants blocks sunlight releases chemicals that stop other plants from thriving and has shallow powerful roots that crack pavements damage walls and clog drains. The group removed these trees to protect Philippine forests save local plant and animal species prevent accidents from the tree’s brittle storm prone branches and restore natural balance by replacing them with native trees that truly belong in the environment.

This September, the Secondary Education Pre-service Teachers' Society (SEPTS) joins the nation in observing National Peace Consciousness Month, a reminder that lasting peace is built not on the battlefield, but in the hearts and minds we shape every day. As Confucius wisely said, beauty in character leads to harmony in the home, order in the nation, and ultimately, peace in the world — and nowhere is this truth more evident than in the classroom.

Through this publication material, SEPTS highlights the vital role of education in cultivating a culture of peace, unity, and togetherness among the youth of Benguet. Teachers, as models of patience and understanding, plant the seeds of respect and cooperation that grow into a peaceful society. The competition provided a platform where CTEians showcased their talents with confidence, dedication, and heart. Each performance reflected not only the unique abilities of our aspiring educators but also the determination and passion they carry in pursuing their craft.
