𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮: Last April 15, 2026, the Young Environmentalists’ Society had successfully catered two important events in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, spearheaded by the YES’ Vice President for External Affairs, Ms. Samantha Ching To.

A day fulfilled with two different missions—Basic First-Aid Training & Blood Donation Drive. The event not only taught our students about the basics in saving lives, but it also encouraged them to know the importance of proper procedures in performing first-aids—in addition to that is the openness of students in saving lives through the donation of blood drive.

We thank everyone for their heartfelt participation and effort in helping us in making this event not only successful but meaningful.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫! 🌍✨

From “Ano ba talaga kukunin ko?” to “Ahh okay… gets ko na!” real quick 😆 Today, our 2nd-year students got a clearer picture of what’s ahead as they step into their 3rd year—no more random guessing (hopefully 👀).

With all the insights, chika, and real-world experiences shared by our speakers, UEPM, ENRM, and ERAM are no longer just confusing acronyms—they’re now actual paths you can see yourself taking (finally!). 🌱

This seminar proved that choosing a specialization isn’t just about surviving the next semesters—it’s about finding where you fit, what you enjoy, and where you won’t cry too much during thesis season 😌📚

Shoutout to Sir Aldrin V. Baniaga, our speaker for Urban Environmental Planning and Management, who reminded us that with UEPM, we’ll be “traveling all around the world”… even if minsan nasa PPT lang muna 😆🌏

And of course, Dr. Romeo A. Gomez Jr., who spoke about Environmental and Natural Resources Management and Environmental Risk Assessment and Management, left us with a real talk moment—being in these fields means being mature enough to take responsibility for all our actions. No shortcuts, just accountability. 💯

A big thank you as well to our seniors and 4th-year students who shared their real-life experiences in their chosen specializations—the honest insights, struggles, and tips made everything feel more real and relatable. Kayo talaga yung “preview” ng future namin 👀✨

The official Election Day will take place on April 16-17, with voting available both face-to-face, April 16 on campus, and April 17 through online for your convenience.

𝐘𝐄𝐒’ 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 | Part I🍃💧

On March 27, 2026, in celebration of the Philippine Water Week the Young Environmentalists’ Society conducted a Coastal Ecosystem Learning Expedition at the Agoo–Damortis Protected Landscape and Seascape (ADPLS) in Sta. Rita West and Central, Agoo, La Union. This off-campus program allowed students more familiar with mountainous environments to immerse themselves in the diversity of coastal and wetland ecosystems.

The morning session featured a seminar led by the Protected Area Management Board/Office (PAMO) focusing on local flora and fauna, such as mangroves, seagrass beds, birds, and fishes. Participants also engaged in an insightful sharing session with park management regarding sustainable reforestation and waste protection strategies. As a protected area, the ADPLS has a rich history, having been proclaimed a National Park in 1965. Today, it is a regular component of the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (ENIPAS) under RA 11038, spanning 10,648.94 hectares across the municipalities of Agoo, Santo Tomas, and Rosario.

With its vast composition including mangrove swamps and black sand beaches, the area serves as a vital hub for marine conservation, aquaculture, and eco-tourism. This expedition provided students with a holistic understanding of sustainable coastal management through hands-on field experience and direct interaction with park authorities.

On 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the Young Environmentalists’ Society invites you to a day of meaningful service and skill-building at Shimumura Park, Benguet State University. In partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross, we are hosting two simultaneous events designed to empower us as both stewards of the environment and active members of our community. From 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, we encourage everyone to participate in our Blood Donation Drive, an initiative open to all who wish to contribute to this life-saving cause. Alongside this, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, we are offering Basic First-Aid Training for the BSES students.

Please note that the training requires a ₱60.00 membership fee and participants are asked to bring their own triangular bandage. Whether you are donating blood or training to save a life, these events reflect our commitment to lead with a purpose and a desire to serve our community at its best.

By adding nature to our urban areas—like vertical gardens and shaded parks—we support the sustainability goals of the Philippine Green Building Code (PD 1096). This will improve air quality, enhance mental well-being, and reduce stress in the community. These spaces act as "living classrooms" where both students and residents can participate in hands-on environmental education and witness technological innovation firsthand. Although we face challenges such as limited space and maintenance costs, we can change our concrete surroundings into lively, life-supporting ecosystems with strong community involvement and public-private partnerships. Earth’s life-support system is an intricate, self-regulating network where 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘴, 𝘴𝘰𝘪𝘭, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 function as the planet’s vital organs to sustain all terrestrial life.

Serving as the 𝙇𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙, trees purify our atmosphere through photosynthesis and use their root systems as anchors to prevent the land from washing away. This protection is vital for the 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, the soil, which acts as a biological engine to recycle nutrients, store carbon, and provide the essential base for global food security. These elements are interconnected by water, the 𝘾𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢, which dissolves and transports minerals from the soil to the trees while regulating the Earth's temperature through its continuous cycle.

When these three elements interact, they create a resilient feedback loop: trees protect the soil, soil filters the water, and water sustains the trees. Understanding this synergy is the first step in conservation, as the degradation of one inevitably leads to the collapse of the entire system.🍃
