Last week's Youth Fellowship message centered on the theme of confidenceโnot the shallow kind rooted in appearances or achievements, but the deep assurance that comes from knowing Christ. With our guest speaker, Jirah Yang Siddayao, she reminded us that true confidence begins when we understand who we are, whose we are, and choose to live from that truth.
Many of us have struggled with insecurity, comparison, or fear of judgment. Before knowing Christ, we may have felt timid, shy, or unsure of ourselves. But the message emphasized that our identity is not defined by our situation. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us: โFor I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.โ Godโs plan for us is filled with hope, not defeat.
The sermon highlighted four powerful truths about confidence in Christ:
God builds our confidence. Philippians 4:13 declares, โI can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.โ Our strength is not our own but it is Christ working in us.
God-given confidence is for a greater purpose. Confidence is not about self-promotion, but about serving Godโs mission and blessing others.
God uses the weak to show His power. As 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, โMy grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.โ What seems small or inadequate in our hands becomes more than enough in His.
God transforms lives. The testimony shared showed the contrast: before Christ we were timid, insecure, afraid; after Christ we become bold, expressive, assured, and socially engaged. This transformation is possible for anyone who trusts Him.
The message closed with 2 Timothy 1:7: โFor God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.โ Confidence in Christ is not arrogance, it is courage rooted in His love and power. If God can transform one life, He can transform yours too.
