Today, we are celebrating the incredible, mysterious, and absolutely vital kingdom of fungi. From helping forests communicate to packing a powerful nutritional punch on our plates, mushrooms truly run the world. 🍄‍🟫

𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬? The largest living organism on Earth is actually a mushroom.

While many people think of the blue whale, the true title holder is a single specimen of 𝘈𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘦 (commonly known as the Humongous Fungus) located in the Malheur National Forest in Oregon, USA. 🌱

This massive underground fungal network covers over 2,385 acres (which is roughly the size of 1,350 soccer fields) and is estimated to be anywhere between 2,400 and 8,600 years old. What we see on the surface are just tiny individual mushrooms, but beneath the soil, they are all connected as one giant, ancient living organism. 🍄‍🟫🍄

The Bios Logos Society is pleased to announce that our much-awaited Acquaintance Party, “𝗔𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗺,” 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆), 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗝𝗟𝗦𝗝 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘄𝗮.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the venue survey. We recognize that 𝙈𝙊𝙁𝘼𝙈𝘾𝙊 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨, reflecting the preference of our participating students. However, after carefully considering the available dates and the current academic calendar, we found it necessary to make adjustments to ensure that the event can proceed with fewer disruptions to our academic responsibilities.

Unfortunately, MOFAMCO is only available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and holding the event on either of these days may conflict with classes. With examinations approaching, we also understand the importance of making the most of our remaining instructional days and being considerate of the efforts of our faculty members in managing their schedules.

With this in mind, 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚. While we understand that this differs from the result of the survey, please know that your votes and preferences were valued and taken into consideration. This decision was made with the hope of bringing our Biology community together without adding unnecessary difficulties to an already demanding academic period.
