A CBCP Statement on the Impeachment of the Vice President

Serve the Common Good in the Pursuit of Justice and Truth
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

To our dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The House of Representatives, heeding the overwhelming sentiment of the Filipino people and finding probable cause, has voted by far more than the requisite one-third of its membership to impeach the Vice President and, as directed by the Constitution, to forward the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate for trial.

We appeal to the Members of the Senate to abide by what the Constitution directs: to proceed with the trial and to decide the case against the Vice President by summoning witnesses, hearing testimony, and voting according to the evidence and, above all, the demands of righteousness and justice.

We urge the Senators to avoid any act that may be perceived as evading their sworn duty or circumventing the requirements of the Constitution. You now have this opportunity to restore our people’s faith and confidence in our public institutions that adhere to the rule of law and serve the common good in the pursuit of justice and truth.

We make this urgent appeal to not delay the trial and to convene the Senate as an impeachment court at the soonest possible time. To delay the trial is to delay justice for both the Filipino people and the Vice President.

To our fellow Filipinos, let us fulfill our civic duties and responsibilities by ensuring a fair and credible trial so that all may see and hear clear, verified evidence and arguments. We must also remain vigilant in monitoring the proceedings. In this way, we uphold the truth, safeguard the integrity of public discourse, and strengthen our nation against misinformation, disinformation, and manipulation.

Our deep desire and fervent prayer is that we arrive at the truth through this constitutional process, with the hope that this will strengthen our respect for and adherence to the rule of law, a key pillar of a genuine and stable democracy.

We ask Our Lady of Fatima, whose feast we celebrate on May 13, to pray for our leaders, our nation, our Church, and our people. Please join us in prayer and action.

This Labor Day, the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Marbel joins the nation in honoring the hardworking men and women whose dedication, sacrifice, and perseverance keep our communities alive and our country moving forward. Today, we recognize every worker whose labor builds homes, shapes futures, serves families, and contributes to the common good.

We give special tribute to our farmers and fisherfolks—the silent heroes who rise before dawn, endure the heat of the sun and the uncertainty of the seasons, and tirelessly work the land and sea so that every family may have food on the table. Their hands plant seeds of hope, harvest blessings from creation, and remind us that honest work is sacred work. Let us continue to stand in solidarity with those whose efforts are often unseen yet whose contributions are invaluable.

In the spirit of Catholic Social Teaching, we affirm that every worker deserves respect, fairness, and opportunities to live with dignity. Together, let us build a society where no labor is exploited, no worker is forgotten, and every person’s contribution is valued.

Mabuhay ang manggagawang Pilipino! Mabuhay ang ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda!

Gathered as one community, the PSACs and other ministries of San Isidro Labrador Parish in Alabel, Sarangani Province celebrated a feast of gratitude and grace on April 18, 2026.

Through the Indigenous Food Fair, 68 women and men came together not only to share meals, but to honor God’s love made visible in the gifts of the earth. Each native dish reflected a deeper truth—that when we care for creation, we also care for one another.

Rooted in tradition and guided by faith, the celebration reminded everyone that the food we grow and eat shapes our health, nurtures our bodies, and safeguards our environment. In choosing what is natural, local, and sustainable, we affirm our role as stewards of God’s creation.

The gathering continues to inspire communities to live out their faith through mindful nourishment, care for the land, and love for one another.

This Earth Day, we stand on one truth: Our Power, Our Planet.

The future of our common home lies in the choices we make today. As Pope Francis reminds us in Laudato Si’, “The climate is a common good, belonging to all and meant for all” (LS 23). With this, we are called to act—embracing clean and renewable energy, strengthening grassroots action, and promoting sustainable practices in our communities.

“Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue” (LS 217). Together, let us educate, organize, and advocate for systems that care for both people and planet.

Change is not only possible—it is already in our hands.

SAC-Marbel Leads Indigenous Food Fair, Advancing Food Systems Transformation in San Pedro Calungsod Parish–Malandag.

In San Pedro Calungsod Parish, indigenous food is no longer at the margins—it is at the heart of a growing movement for cultural renewal and sustainable living. Through the launch of the Indigenous Food Fair on April 11, 2026, SAC-Marbel positions food not merely as nourishment, but as a powerful platform for promoting healthy lifestyles, environmental stewardship, and community resilience.

The activity gathered 97 GKK leaders and members of the Lay Liturgical Ministry, creating a space to rediscover the value of traditional food systems rooted in local knowledge, biodiversity, and time-honored practices. By elevating indigenous cuisine, SAC-Marbel underscores its vital role in improving nutrition, supporting local producers, and safeguarding the environment.

More than a one-day event, the Indigenous Food Fair serves as a platform for sustained advocacy and action—where traditional foods are rediscovered and revived, communities are empowered, and sustainability is made tangible. In placing indigenous food at the forefront, SAC-Marbel affirms that the path to a more resilient future begins with what is grown, prepared, and shared at the table.
