KAUSWAGAN, LANAO DEL NORTE — Young leaders and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials from across North Mindanao converged for the Academy of Young Leaders (AYL), a collaborative initiative spearheaded by the Kaya Natin Youth Movement and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. Anchored in the core principles of Matino at Mahusay, the training-workshop aimed to sharpen local youth governance and civic participation.

The gathering featured Vice Mayor Rommel Arnado, a Kaya Natin Champion on Electoral Reform, shared the history of the organization's founding members and recollected his experiences working alongside the Kaya Natin founder Sec. Jesse Robredo.

A central highlight of the event was the panel discussion titled “Navigating Youth Platforms for Youth Governance.” SK Federation President Warren Albert Tabanao joined former Cagayan de Oro Mayor Oscar Moreno and Atty. Ernesto Neri on the panel. SK Fed Tabanao addressed the landscape of available youth platforms, emphasizing actionable strategies for effective participation and overcoming structural challenges unique to SK governance.

The multi-day training also welcomed distinguished guests, including former Senator TG Guingona, City Councilor Imee Moreno, and Board Member Mcasarte of Cotabato City, who recollected their experiences in leadership.

For the delegation from Kauswagan, participation in this year’s AYL marks a pivotal step toward re-establishing the Kaya Natin Youth Movement locally. The move serves as a concrete platform to cultivate empowered, ethical, and highly effective youth leaders in Kauswagan.
