IBP Aklan Brings Free Legal Aid in the Highlands: IBP–Aklan at “Serbisyo sa Iraya & Kasali Ka” (Year 4)
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) – Aklan Chapter is honored to have participated as one of the 31 government agencies and non-government organizations in SERBISYO SA IRAYA & KASALI KA (Year 4).
On April 23–24, 2026, our delegation traveled across mountainous roads to reach Brgy. Agbatuan, Oyang, Libacao, Aklan, where we provided free legal aid, legal consultations, and technical assistance to our Akeanon-Bukidnon Indigenous Peoples (IP) community.
This engagement forms part of the Serbisyong IBP (Integrated Bar for the Peripheries) initiative of the IBP Aklan-Committee on Legal Aid—bringing the rule of law and access to justice closer to geographically isolated and underserved communities, consistent with the profession’s duty to support the improvement of the administration of justice and advocacies in areas of special concern, including Indigenous Peoples’ rights and access to justice.
Key services and activities provided:
⚖️ Free legal consultations and notarization of simple affidavits, conducted at the Agbatuan Covered Court.
⚖️ Technical assistance and community dialogue with IP elders to identify priority concerns and explore sustainable, long-term initiatives for the community.
⚖️Community engagement through participation in the Caravan of Services, to help ensure that legal assistance and government programs remain accessible even in remote areas.
Beyond the legal mission, IBP–Aklan also joined the eco-trekking and tree-planting activity where we undertook an on-ground trek to reach Nasuraan Falls, affirming that meaningful service includes care for the communities and environments we are privileged to visit.
We extend our since appreciation to the IP community in Agbatuan Oyang for warmly welcoming us and to our volunteer legal aid lawyers and our legal aid staff for their active participation.
Serve the Country, Hail the IBP!
