AKO Loida Cordova, our very own "Iron Woman" and one of the Pillars of Aklan Kamera Org invites you to experience~~~
Threads of Home: Aklan in Photographs —a visual love letter to Aklan and its people.
The Museo it Akean 1980 (MIA) invites you to experience “Threads of Home: Aklan in Photographs,” a deeply evocative one-woman exhibition by acclaimed photographer Loida Cordova—a visual love letter to Aklan and its people.
Through her lens, the province reveals itself in quiet, powerful ways: fleeting moments, familiar streets, poetic places and faces, and textures that gently define what it means to call Aklan home. In celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Province of Aklan, this exhibition stands as both tribute and testimony—honoring heritage while embracing the present.
Explore the exhibit through four (4) compelling sections:
1. ROOTS: Heritage and Identity
Discover the soul of Aklan—its deep history, vibrant faith, and enduring traditions. From the devotion of Ati-Atihan to the delicate artistry of piña weaving, these images ground us in what shapes Aklanon identity.
2. RHYTHM: The Life of a People
Feel the pulse of everyday life. Honest, unfiltered scenes of fishermen, artisans, families, and communities reveal Aklan as it is lived—simple, resilient, and profoundly human.
3. FACES: Quiet Portraits
Meet the people behind the story. Portraits of elders, mothers, children, and workers reflect dignity, warmth, and the generational threads that bind the community together.
4. MOVEMENT AND CHANGE: Aklan in Transition
Witness a province in motion—embracing sustainability, innovation, and progress while staying rooted in tradition. Aklan’s future unfolds with intention, hope, and pride.
Cordova writes, “This exhibit is a tribute to Aklan and its people: the keepers of tradition, the carriers of color and sound, and the quiet architects of tomorrow. May these images open a doorway to understanding a province that is not only beautiful, but soulful, resilient, and profoundly alive.”
Come not just to see Aklan—but to feel it!
