A spirit of compassion and responsibility fills the grounds of the Aklan State University โ€“ Kalibo Campus as students and volunteers come together for the Blood Buddies Project, a blood donation drive of the ASU Kalibo College Red Cross Youth Council.

More than just a bloodletting activity, the event also promotes proactive health measures through free HIV testing, condom distribution, and the provision of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. These services aim to empower students with knowledge and encourage informed, responsible decisions about their health.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Chapter Service Representative of Red Cross Youth, Errol R. Ordines, as part of the councilโ€™s continuing commitment to public service. Beyond strengthening the communityโ€™s blood supply, the project underscores the organizationโ€™s dedication to advancing awareness, prevention, and safe health practices among students and stakeholders.

Through this integrated effort, the youth once again demonstrate that leadership is not only about serviceโ€”but about saving lives, spreading awareness, and building a healthier community within and beyond the campus.

The Chapter Youth Councilโ€“ Aklan Chapter succesfully organized a Child Protection Policy Orientation, bringing together youth leaders and volunteers for a discussion on strengthening child safeguarding efforts within the community.

The orientation covered key topics including childrenโ€™s rights, proper reporting procedures, safeguarding standards, and an overview of RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. Participants were encouraged to take an active role in recognizing and responding to child protection.

Proudly participated by our very own Council Governor Dave Jasper Merencilla and C*C Asst. Public Relations Officer Adrian J. Sugapong, along with fellow youth advocates committed to promoting safe and child-friendly spaces.

Together, we stand for a safer and more child-friendly community.
