A spirit of compassion and responsibility fills the grounds of the Aklan State University โ Kalibo Campus as students and volunteers come together for the Blood Buddies Project, a blood donation drive of the ASU Kalibo College Red Cross Youth Council.
More than just a bloodletting activity, the event also promotes proactive health measures through free HIV testing, condom distribution, and the provision of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. These services aim to empower students with knowledge and encourage informed, responsible decisions about their health.
The initiative is spearheaded by the Chapter Service Representative of Red Cross Youth, Errol R. Ordines, as part of the councilโs continuing commitment to public service. Beyond strengthening the communityโs blood supply, the project underscores the organizationโs dedication to advancing awareness, prevention, and safe health practices among students and stakeholders.
Through this integrated effort, the youth once again demonstrate that leadership is not only about serviceโbut about saving lives, spreading awareness, and building a healthier community within and beyond the campus.
