Angat GenC supports this Unity Statement signed by various civil society organizations and individuals.
This February 25, 2026, we are reminded of EDSAโa moment when people power proved that collective action can dismantle injustice and hold power to account.
Today, that same struggle continues. Social justice is climate justice. The systems that enable corruption, poverty, and impunity are the same systems driving climate destruction and deepening inequality. The climate crisis is not separate from our history, it is its continuation.
UNITY STATEMENT on People Power@40
Signed by more than 150 organizations and 400 individuals.
Kita-kits sa EDSA-ORTIGAS ngayong araw (25 Feb. 2026) 1-4pm.
Tuloy ang laban sa korapsyon at kahirapan!

Nagkakaisang Pahayag sa Ika-40 Anibersaryo ng People Power I (25 Pebrero 2026)
Marcos Jr. at Bise Presidente Sara Duterte.

(ENGLISH VERSION)
Unity Statement on the 40th Anniversary of People Power I (25 February 2026)
Forty years have passed since we, the Filipino people, came together to end the plunder and repression of the Marcos dictatorship. We commemorate this as a tribute to People Power I along EDSA and in other parts of the country, which proved that unity is the peopleโs weapon to restore democratic institutions (however limited) and to strive for a better life for all.
Forty years have also passed in which succeeding administrations have failed to lift all citizens out of poverty and to dismantle the corrupt system dominated by political dynasties and giant corporations. The prices of basic goods remain high. The incomes of workers, farmers, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) remain low. Only a few families and corporations benefit from the so-called economic growth boasted by the government.
While the budget for public services such as education, health,
electricity, housing, agriculture, and others remains insufficient, the people are buried in burdensome taxes and debt to raise funds that are stolen by politicians and contractors. The environment continues to be destroyed for the enrichment of a few, while funds allocated to protect the lives and livelihoods of Filipinos vulnerable to the climate crisis are plundered. Elections have become contests among dynasties and a race of who can spend the most money: contractorsโ donations to politiciansโincluding the president, vice president, and members of Congressโare rampant.
Because of widespread protests and the peopleโs just wrath, impeachment complaints have been filed against President Ferdinand โBongbongโ Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte. Some individuals have also been charged and detained in connection with the flood control scam, and assets and bank accounts worth 24.7 billion pesos have been frozen by the government. After nearly 40 years of inaction by Congress, the Palace was compelled to prioritize the Anti-Dynasty Bill in response to the strong public demand.
But those measures are not enough. The masterminds have yet to be investigated and arrested. Corruption continues in 2026 as billions of pesos in pork barrel-like allocables, insertions, and unprogrammed funds remain in the National Budget. In the Senate, recommendations to file charges against those involved in the flood control scandal were watered down. Under the administrationโs Anti-Dynasty Bill, dynasties may still monopolize positions across different levels of government.
Enough is enough! This system that runs the government like a business has gone too far!
Enough of a system ruled by corrupt dynasties that enrich themselves while the entire nation suffers!
On the 40th anniversary of People Power I, let us unite and continue the struggle against corruption and poverty, and for truth, justice, and accountability!
Let us gather along EDSA Shrine, EDSA-Ortigas, and the People Power Monument, 1:00-5:00 PM. Bring your families, friends, co-workers, classmates, and others. Bring placards and streamers carrying our calls for the genuine change we seek to achieve.
People Power continues against corruption and poverty, and for truth, justice, and accountability!
From the top down, all those involved must be held accountable!
Jail the corrupt!
Return the stolen wealth to the people!
End the exploitation of workers, farmers, and the environment!
Funds for public services, not for corrupt politicians!
End the rule of corrupt dynasties!
