This August, the Philippine Red Cross Manila Chapter joins the nation in observing International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Month, reaffirming our shared commitment to protecting human life and dignity, especially in times of armed conflict.

This year’s theme, “𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘜𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘏𝘓,” highlights the importance of working together to strengthen respect for International Humanitarian Law.

IHL reminds us that even amid conflict, there are rules that must be respected. Civilians must be protected, human dignity must be upheld, and those no longer taking part in hostilities must be treated humanely.

For the Philippine Red Cross Manila Chapter, promoting IHL means helping communities understand why these principles matter and encouraging everyone to become advocates for humanity. Through our volunteers and humanitarian efforts, we continue to support initiatives that foster awareness, respect, and compassion in times of crisis and conflict.

This IHL Month, let us learn the rules, uphold the principles, and strengthen our collective commitment to humanity.

As part of the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month, the Philippine Red Cross – Manila Chapter proudly joins the nationwide 143 Luntian initiative, together with its Staffs, Disaster Management Services, Red Cross Youth and RC143 volunteers.

As a humanitarian organization, the Philippine Red Cross recognizes that healthy ecosystems play an important role in reducing disaster risks, protecting livelihoods, and strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities. Together with our volunteers, partners, local government units, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), we are taking collective action to help restore and protect our environment.

More than a tree growing activity, 143 Luntian is our commitment to working with communities in nurturing safer, greener, and more resilient futures.

Together, we grow resilience.
