Let us hear from Ma’am Prescious Joy Villamor of Agos Agos Elementary School, a Grade 1 teacher who continues to sustain the best practice of peer tutoring, first introduced in 2012 by the 𝗥𝗲𝗜𝗡𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗻𝗰., in partnership with ChildFund Philippines

This initiative has consistently improved pupils’ reading skills and significantly reduced the number of struggling readers over the years.

“Peer tutoring empowers students to learn from one another, making learning engaging, collaborative, and meaningful,” she shares. It also helps learners better understand lessons, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Student tutors, in turn, strengthen their leadership, communication skills, and sense of responsibility while helping their peers succeed.

Indeed, peer tutoring fosters a supportive environment where learners grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

The 𝐑𝐞𝐈𝐍𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in partnership with ChildFund Philippines continues to champion empowered communities through its Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP) programs, recognizing play as a powerful foundation for every child’s holistic growth and brighter future.

On 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 gathered at the 𝐒𝐍𝐏 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞 for an inspiring and meaningful training focused on 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 (𝐃𝐀𝐏). The session aimed to deepen facilitators’ understanding of child-centered approaches and to strengthen their ability to create safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments. Through these efforts, children are given opportunities to explore, connect, and thrive physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally.

A highlight of the training was the sharing of knowledge and best practices by dedicated SNP Facilitator Volunteer 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧. With nearly 𝟏𝟖 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, she inspired fellow facilitators from General Nakar by emphasizing that love, patience, and purposeful teaching can truly transform young lives and uplift entire communities.

Through collaboration, shared stories, hands-on workshops, and reflection, we continue to raise the standard of our SNP programs—because when we invest in our children, we invest in a stronger, brighter tomorrow. 💛

The 𝐑𝐞𝐈𝐍𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, in partnership with ChildFund Philippines, and with the technical support of the 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞, successfully conducted a meaningful two-day training for teachers, reaffirming the commitment to inclusive, compassionate, and learner-centered education. The activity focused on strengthening inclusive classrooms through 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐒𝐄𝐋) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, equipping educators with strategies to build safe, supportive, and motivating learning environments.

The sessions emphasized the integration of developmentally and culturally appropriate learning materials, including indigenous teaching aids and games, to ensure that instruction remains relevant, engaging, and responsive to the diverse backgrounds of learners. These approaches highlighted the importance of recognizing students’ cultural identities while enhancing classroom participation and understanding.

Anchored on the theme “𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭,” educators explored practical SEL strategies that promote empathy, positive relationships, and emotional resilience among learners. Strong emphasis was placed on Inclusive Education and Special Needs Education (SNED), underscoring the role of teachers in addressing varied learning needs. The sharing of best practices in Reading and Mathematics further inspired participants to make remedial sessions more meaningful and engaging.

The ReINA Federation, in partnership with ChildFund Philippines, conducted an exploratory meeting with Binulasan Integrated School and Batangan National High School, along with the YES-O Adviser and Youth President, and the DepEd Division of Quezon – SGOD personnels, Sir Arvin Repaso , DRR Chief and Ma'am Lagos Floricel , YES -O Focal.

The meeting focused on innovative approaches to implementing a School-Based Zero Waste Store and establishing an Eco-Scouts Nursery Learning Laboratory.

Discussions emphasized the integration of Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) principles into school-based programs, strengthening environmental stewardship, waste reduction practices, and climate-resilient initiatives, while identifying stakeholder roles, sustainability mechanisms, and learner participation in support of DepEd’s thrust for safe, resilient, and environmentally responsive schools.

Today, 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, the 𝐑𝐞𝐈𝐍𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐜., working with ChildFund Philippines, joined the commemoration of the 𝟐𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟒 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝, one of the most tragic disasters that struck the municipality and neighboring towns.

The commemorative event, 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐚), was led by the Municipal Government of Infanta together with various organizations, civil society groups, and community sectors. The gathering served as an important moment of remembrance and collective reflection on the tragic event as well as the long journey of recovery, hope, and progress embraced by the people of Infanta.

During the ceremony, participants recalled the devastating impact of the flash flood that claimed many lives and displaced thousands of families. The event also highlighted the resilience and unity that enabled Infanta to rise again—stronger and more prepared.

A ceremonial 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬 was held in honor of the lives lost during the disaster, symbolizing the community’s enduring love and remembrance for their fellow Infantahins.

The event also emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and community resilience.
