A hand meant to write became a hand that begged. Students vanish; they fail; they barely grasp the life that they had wanted. But why? Cruelty takes place in many forms: addiction, unintentional harm, robbery, and greed. Not only do students in college experience this unfortunate situation, but also children in high school and elementary school.

Students who work after class are poor children; their lives depend on money. In order to survive their situation, life has pushed them to the brink, so they need to work despite their already stressful school days. For each money they earn from their part-time jobs, it wasn't always enough. Never enough.
Despite their hard work, it really never got them to somewhere that exceeded their needs. Teachers wonder why they keep having a check on their absent list; teachers wonder, โWhy hasnโt my student gone to my classes for 2 days or more?โ Students are suffocating under the pressure of having to live and having to pass.
One bill wasnโt enough for the supplies needed for school, so they kept missing specific dates like projects, group work, individual presentations, and even passing quizzes was a hustle. Barely had the money to contribute, and barely had the money to travel despite they worked. All of it was only enough.

Commonly, these students who work after class usually have debt that hasnโt been repaid to the owner. If anything, itโs rather a permanent borrowing of money. But that is subjective. Some also repay, because not everyone is that poor. Although debt is still suffocating due to that guilt building up, a problem that nags every time.
Stacked debt doesnโt vanish as students do in class; if anything, it stays right there- it just stays. A constant reminder for the student worker that they had something to repay even though they didnโt even have any money to pay for themselves, a reminder that they shouldnโhaveead borrowed money and should have saved up for it instead, a reminder that it was a regret and a relief.
This debt is like a ticking time bomb that never blows, thrilling, suspenseful, never-ending ticking in your ear. It reminds them of the money they had borrowed to buy their needs, but somehow paying them back looks impossible to begin with.

Within their suffocating debt, their constant absences, and lack of supplies for their everyday life, they had toughened up. Working all the shifts, yet attending classes. Sounds tiring. And it is. Over 49% of undergraduate students have jobs, whether it is big or small.
Even if these students work only to help their family out, it still has a sting. A sting that would fade, but always be remembered. Disappearing for their jobs is a sad excuse, or rather, maybe even weak. But others understand.
Given how much they have spent their hours on, they have been working and working. A life that needed consent and validation needs to be completed or fulfilled.
Even stacks, or even nothing, this life where students vanish into oblivion for a day or maybe even moreโ at least they are working for something. Working for big dreams to help their family, themselves, or anyone else. A determination set to fulfill something they care about.
