In a world where leadership is often measured by titles and achievements, Maria Luisa “Mariepel” Pel stands as a shining example of service-driven leadership rooted in compassion, humility, and purpose. As the Charter President of KC Sunshine of Cavite, she has dedicated her time, energy, and heart to uplifting communities and inspiring others through meaningful humanitarian work.
Fondly known as “Mariepel,” she is recognized among fellow Kiwanians as a true Sunshiner, a leader who brings light, hope, and encouragement to the lives of children, families, and communities in need. Under her leadership, KC Sunshine of Cavite has become a vibrant organization built on trust, unity, and a shared commitment to serving others.
Her journey in community service began long before her involvement with Kiwanis. Deeply affected by the devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, Mariepel witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by disaster-stricken families. That experience awakened a lifelong desire to help those in need and became a defining moment that shaped her advocacy for humanitarian service.
As a dedicated Kiwanian, she transformed compassion into action through numerous outreach initiatives and relief programs. Among the most notable was the “Tulong Silong sa Pagsulong” project, a large-scale rehabilitation effort following Typhoon Rolly in Bicol. Through the collective efforts of Kiwanis clubs and volunteers, hundreds of families received roofing materials, plywood, and essential supplies to rebuild their homes and restore hope for the future.
Her passion for serving children is equally evident through projects such as “Isang Libong Saya sa Bawat Isang Bata,” an outreach program that brought joy, educational support, and essential assistance to children and families in underserved communities. These initiatives reflect her belief that every child deserves an opportunity to dream, learn, and succeed regardless of circumstance.
For Mariepel, leadership is not about authority or recognition. It is about inspiring people to work together toward a common mission. She believes that true leadership is built on trust, respect, and the willingness to serve others selflessly. Her ability to unite volunteers, community leaders, and fellow Kiwanians has strengthened the impact of every project she has undertaken.
Guided by the principles of Kiwanis International, she continues to champion programs focused on child welfare, disaster response, community development, education, health awareness, and family empowerment. Through every initiative, she embodies the Kiwanis mission of improving the world one child and one community at a time.
