[𝐁𝐌𝐈𝐒-𝐓𝐎𝐄 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬]

Continuing from what was left off the morning session, participants from the different barangays of San Dionisio, Iloilo, carried on with the filling out of the Family Data Sheet (FDS) as part of the Barangay Management Information System Training of Enumerators.

Guided by the facilitators who previously participated in the BMIS Training of Trainers at the UPV Iloilo City Campus last June 17 to 19, 2026, participants continued the hands-on training workshop in collecting important household and community data. The workshop perfectly highlighted the significance of having reliable, accurate, and timely information to create evidence-based plans at the barangay level.

To further reinforce the learning experience, a situational role play that simulated actual data collection scenarios was conducted, giving the participants an opportunity to apply what they have learned in today’s program and preparing them for tomorrow’s community engagement.

Day 1 of the program concluded with the preparation for Pilot Interviews in selected barangays in the municipality of San Dionisio. Through an in-depth workshop session, participants were able to grasp the concept of the BMIS as a system and the FDS as a tool for evidence-based data they can apply to their respective communities.

The Barangay Management Information System Training of Enumerators officially began its Day 1 morning session on July 7, 2026, at SEALIPS Restaurant, San Dionisio, Iloilo.

The session opened with welcoming remarks from Municipal Mayor Sally A. Lopez, followed by the leveling of expectations and the administration of the pre-test. Participants then engaged in discussions about the basic concepts of health and nutrition, laying the foundation for a deeper understanding of community-based data collection.

Asst. Prof. Czarinnah G. Araneta, MA, also presented an overview of BIDANI, highlighting its role in advancing nutrition-in-development initiatives. This was followed by an introduction to the Barangay Management Information System, which equips enumerators to conduct accurate and effective community profiling.

The morning session proceeded with Workshop 1, where participants were guided in filling out the Family Data Sheet as part of their hands-on training.

𝗖𝗢𝗣-𝗕𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗜 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼, 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 2 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗧𝗔𝗖 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

On June 22, 2026, UPV CAS COP-BIDANI and the Local Government Unit of San Dionisio, Iloilo, continued their two-day Municipal Technical Action Committee (MTAC) Training, reinforcing their shared commitment to stronger local nutrition governance and community well-being.

The second day opened with a synthesis of the previous day’s discussions, setting the stage for deeper learning and planning. Participants then proceeded to Session 4B, which focused on the implementation of the BIDANI Strategy at the local level. This session highlighted the BIDANI Operational Framework and emphasized action planning with line agencies, particularly through the formation of the Municipal Technical Action Committee.

The discussions also underscored the vital role of the MTAC as an organizational mechanism at the city or municipal level tasked with the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and replication of the BIDANI Strategy within the local government unit. Participants explored the roles and activities of the MTAC, as well as the importance of a program planning and implementing committee composed of political, technical, and sectoral leaders in the barangay to advance nutrition improvement and the general well-being of the community.

This was followed by Session 5 on Harmonization and Goal Setting, where participants engaged in guided reflection to align plans, strengthen collaboration, and clarify shared goals. In the afternoon, the training continued with action planning and presentation of plans, followed by the Day 2 synthesis of the overall event and a photo opportunity to commemorate the collective effort.

As COP-BIDANI continues to expand its reach, initiatives like the MTAC Training affirm the power of collaboration in building healthier, more nutrition-responsive communities.

In its continued pursuit of strengthening nutrition advocacy, UPV CAS COP-BIDANI, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of San Dionisio, Iloilo, commenced a two-day Municipal Technical Action Committee (MTAC) Training on June 22-23, 2026.

The first day of the morning session began with discussions on fundamental nutrition concepts, prevailing nutritional challenges, and national responses aimed to address the country’s malnutrition issues.

Participants were also introduced to key nutrition promotion tools, including 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘀 (𝗡𝗚𝗙), the 𝟭𝟬 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, and 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆, which serve as a practical guide in promoting healthy eating habits and proper food portions. As well as furthering discussions on the various forms and causes of malnutrition, and significance of the first 1000 days of a child’s life.

The MTAC Training underscores the need for timely and sustainable nutrition interventions in order to contribute for the country’s development and welfare.

‎As participants completed the situational analysis and sectoral planning workshop, they moved on to identify counterparts for the different roles across agencies and brainstorm problems together, developing diverse strategies to address each issue.
‎
‎In yesterday afternoon's session, participants engaged in a focused discussion on Problem Prioritization, a participatory tool for comparing and ranking issues. They used criteria such as urgency and seriousness of the problem, impact, feasibility of the solution, cost-effectiveness, and growth of the problem to guide decisions about which issues require immediate attention. The program closed with everyone sharing key takeaways and reflections, reinforcing next steps and collective learning.

‎Day Three opened with an energetic ice breaker facilitated by UPV BA in Psychology interns, followed by a brief recap of Day Two. The recap covered navigation of BMIS Website Version 3, discussions on BMIS implementation, and the importance of planning, including a short overview of the Bottom-Linked Approach for creating sustainable social innovations that address societal needs.

‎The session began with a hands-on situational analysis using the BIDANI — Barangay Solutions Matrix to address specific community needs, followed by a sectoral planning workshop that brought different participant groups together to align roles, maximize resources, and coordinate strategies.

As participants and stakeholders build technical proficiency in geotagging, nutritional literacy, and the Family Data Sheet for BMIS encoding, this afternoon's session helped trainees develop the skills needed to manage the system effectively.

For the afternoon segment, the lectures are divided into two breakout sessions: one is occupied by the LGU representatives and BA in Psychology student interns, where they discussed issues and concerns related to the BMIS Data Sheet, emphasizing the importance of data accuracy and veracity. In the other session, UPV faculty and staff tackled data-driven initiatives and paper-based data collection methods, further enhancing their proficiency in navigating the BMIS Web application.

Through these collaborative learning sessions, participants continue to strengthen their skills to ensure efficient, accurate, and evidence-based data management within their respective communities.
