Project GABAY Katutubo 2.0: Serbisyo Caravan for Indigenous People
Bringing services closer and building stronger connections with our Indigenous Peoples communities!
Through Project GABAY Katutubo 2.0, CPD Region VI, together with NCIP and partner agencies, conducted a Serbisyo Caravan for the Ati communities of Brgy. San Nicolas and Sitio Bangkiling, Magsaysay, Buenavista, Guimaras.
This meaningful initiative brought together various government agencies and stakeholders to provide accessible services, health information, and community support while recognizing the unique culture, rights, and aspirations of our Ati brothers and sisters.
On September 24, 2026, Family Planning Organization of the Philippines provided FP services, including counseling, oral contraceptive pills, and DMPA, were provided to community members. Discussions also focused on reproductive health, personal hygiene, and addressing common myths and misconceptions, especially among adolescents.
Hygiene kits and food packs were distributed, while fun and educational games helped engage the youth in learning about health and wellness. Five months' worth of oral contraceptive pills were also provided, easing the financial burden of beneficiaries and improving access to family planning services.
A noteworthy aspect of the activity was the participation of Population Officers who recently completed the Training of Trainers on Culture Sensitivity and Competency. Their enhanced understanding of Indigenous Peoples' culture and traditions enabled them to connect with the community with greater respect, empathy, and responsiveness.
More importantly, community members shared that the information they gained encouraged them to continue seeking health services and follow-up consultations at their local RHU.
Together, we continue to create opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and ensure that no community is left behind. Through culturally responsive and people-centered services, we move closer to a future where every Indigenous community is empowered, informed, and supported.
