SACEO successfully conducted the Service-Learning as a Pathway to Knowledge: Integrating Service-Learning in the Curriculum Workshop last June 15, 2026, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
This meaningful initiative aimed to strengthen the implementation of Augustinian Service-Learning (ASL) across colleges by deepening the understanding of service-learning as a transformative approach to educationโone that bridges instruction, research, and community engagement toward meaningful knowledge creation and social impact.
The workshop was enriched by the expertise of our resource speaker, Mr. Froilan Alipao, a seasoned community development practitioner, educator, and advocate with over three decades of experience in community organizing, leadership development, and social advocacy. Currently serving as Director of the Simbahayan Community Development Office of the University of Santo Tomas, he shared valuable insights on service-learning, community engagement, and transformative education grounded in real community needs.
Through practical frameworks, tools, and meaningful discussions, participants were guided in integrating service-learning into course design, aligning learning outcomes with community needs, and building sustainable partnerships with partner communities.
More than just a teaching strategy, service-learning serves as a pathway to forming socially responsive learners and educatorsโcreating opportunities for meaningful engagement, collaborative learning, and transformative action.
As we continue advancing Augustinian formation, this initiative reaffirms our commitment to developing academic programs that enrich instruction, strengthen research, and respond to the needs of communities.
