What better way to experience Filipino culture than by learning it through the people, food, and traditions we share?
As part of our Native Way activity, our Japanese students had a hands-on experienceโfrom visiting the local market and preparing ingredients to learning how to prepare and cook ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ค๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฃ๐ฐ, ๐๐ช๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฏ, ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ช๐ข๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐ช. With the guidance and assistance of the students and teachers of ๐๐ค๐ถ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ข ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ช๐ฏ๐ช ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ช ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ต๐ข ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ฃ๐ข๐ณ๐ข ๐๐ฏ๐ค., they also experienced the process of preparing the chicken before cooking.
The day came together around a traditional Filipino budol fight, where everyone shared the meal they had prepared and enjoyed the simple joy of eating together.
A heartfelt thank you to Scuola Bambini dei Santa Barbara Inc., its students, and teachers for warmly welcoming our Japanese students and generously sharing their time, knowledge, and space. Your support made this hands-on cultural experience even more meaningful.
We would also like to thank the Grow Abacus of Grow Forward JP, Inc. for facilitating and bringing this Native Way activity together. Your hard work in preparing the activities and guiding everyone throughout the day helped make this experience possible.
Through cooking, sharing, and learning side by side, we were reminded that cultural exchange does not always need to happen through words.
