Iloilo City - Demonstrating its commitment to volunteerism and community development, Proyekto Volunteers Network (PVN) actively participated in Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Rizal Elementary School in Tanza, Iloilo City. The initiative brought together volunteers, educators, parents, and corporate partners in a collective effort to prepare the school for the opening of classes and create a more conducive learning environment for learners. PVN Takes Active Role as Facilitator and Speaker in Iloilo Provincial Youth Convergence

Iloilo City - The Proyekto Volunteers Network (PVN) played a significant role in the successful conduct of the Bida Kabataang Ilonggo: The First Iloilo Provincial Youth Convergence, held at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel. The organization served both as a facilitating team and as a resource speaker, highlighting its growing involvement in youth governance and development initiatives across Iloilo Province.

The convergence, spearheaded by the Provincial Youth Development Office of Provincial Government of Iloilo, brought together youth leaders, partner organizations, and institutional stakeholders for a full-day engagement focused on collaboration, policy dialogue, and youth empowerment. PVN was among the key organizations tapped to facilitate the teambuilding and interactive sessions, where they guided participants through activities designed to strengthen teamwork, leadership, and collective action among Iloilo’s youth sector.

The PVN delegation was composed of Chairman Daniel “Kuya D” Agan, Corporate Treasurer and PYDC Representative Erwin Militar, PA1 Program Director Joy Penetrante, and PA3 Program Director Marlon Fernandez. Their participation underscored PVN’s active membership in the Iloilo Provincial Youth Development Council (PYDC) and its continuing role in supporting youth development programs in the province.

A major highlight of the convergence was the plenary talks, where PVN Chairman Daniel “Kuya D” Agan served as one of the resource speakers. In his presentation, he introduced PVN as a non-stock, non-profit, volunteer-driven, and inclusive organization rooted in the legacy of Youth Proyekto Philippines. He emphasized that PVN is more than a volunteer group, describing it as a platform that develops leaders, strengthens communities, and promotes sustainable action aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Kuya D further discussed PVN’s guiding framework anchored on three core pillars: SERVE, LEAD, and UPLIFT. He explained that SERVE focuses on service, equity, responsibility, volunteerism, and empowerment; LEAD emphasizes learning, excellence, action, development, and leadership; while UPLIFT highlights unity, partnership, leadership, inclusion, fellowship, and transformation. He stressed that these principles are embedded in all PVN programs and initiatives, shaping both its culture and impact.

He also highlighted PVN’s leadership development approach through its Young Leaders Academy, which provides structured training and formation opportunities for volunteers. According to him, PVN’s model ensures that volunteers do not only participate in community service but are also equipped to grow into capable leaders through experience, mentorship, and capacity-building opportunities. He likewise emphasized the organization’s commitment to data-driven, community-based, and impact-oriented programming.

The convergence also featured key sessions from various stakeholders, including representatives from the National Youth Commission, local government units, and partner organizations. Discussions centered on youth policies, development programs, and collaborative initiatives, alongside presentations and interactive engagements that strengthened multi-sectoral cooperation in youth governance.

The event gathered hundreds of youth participants across Iloilo Province who actively engaged in plenary discussions and commitment-building activities designed to strengthen provincial youth development efforts.

PVN’s participation as both facilitator and speaker underscored its expanding role in shaping youth leadership and governance in the province. Through its involvement in program implementation and policy dialogue, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young leaders, strengthening partnerships, and advancing inclusive development.

PVN Attends NYC Youth Consultative Meeting at the NYC Region 6 Office

Iloilo City - The Proyekto Volunteers Network (PVN) took part in the Youth Consultative Meeting organized by the National Youth Commission (NYC) Region 6 Office, where youth leaders and stakeholders gathered to discuss pressing concerns and opportunities for strengthening youth development initiatives across Western Visayas.

Representing PVN, Chairman Daniel “Kuya D” Agan actively participated in the consultation led by NYC Commissioner for Visayas, Assistant Secretary Wacky Racho. During the dialogue, Kuya D raised several issues affecting youth governance and participation at the local level, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that youth voices are reflected in policies and programs.

“Representation is more than occupying a seat at the table, it is about bringing forward the realities, concerns, and aspirations of the youth we serve,” Kuya D shared.

Among the key concerns presented were the inactivity of some Local Youth Development Offices (LYDOs), the need to strengthen project management and ideation competencies among Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders, and the recurring conflicts between Barangay Captains and SK Chairs that often hinder collaboration and effective youth governance.

Kuya D also highlighted the need for stronger coaching and mentoring support from local leaders to help young leaders navigate governance challenges and deliver more impactful programs in their communities.

Beyond operational concerns, PVN called attention to policy and governance gaps that continue to affect youth participation. These include the absence of clear guidelines for Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) elections and the lack of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for Youth Development Plans, both of which are critical to ensuring accountability and meaningful youth engagement.

The consultation also served as a platform to raise concerns regarding the red-tagging of young people who choose to be actively engaged in civic and community issues, underscoring the importance of protecting democratic participation and civic spaces for the youth.

As part of its recommendations, PVN urged the National Youth Commission to further champion key advocacies across all SKs nationwide. These include Environmental Sustainability, Mental Health, Media and Information Literacy through Fake News Awareness, and Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage.

The consultative meeting provided an avenue for open discussions between youth leaders, community stakeholders and government, reinforcing the role of youth participation in shaping policies and programs that directly impact communities.

PVN expressed its appreciation to the National Youth Commission for creating spaces where young people can share their perspectives and contribute to nation-building through meaningful dialogue and collaborative action.

“The work of youth development requires difficult conversations, honest assessments, and a shared commitment to doing better for the next generation,” Kuya D said.

Through engagements such as the Youth Consultative Meeting, PVN continues to advocate for stronger youth representation, responsive governance, and sustainable development initiatives that empower young Filipinos to become active partners in community and national development.
