SDRRMC of Jaro National High School once again facilitated the 4th quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill together last Thursday, November 9, 2023 together with SRCYC of JNHS. Prior to the drill, Ryza Ramos, SDRRMC of JNHS President diligently allocated responsibilities to each officer, designating specific buildings for their supervision. The entire JNHS community, comprising students, faculty, and staff, actively participated. However, due to the sweltering weather, they opted not to evacuate as planned but instead executed the essential "duck, cover, and hold" procedure within their respective offices and classrooms.

STOP THE BLEED : Save a Life

The SDRRMC of Jaro National High School organized an earthquake drill on Thursday, September 7, marking the commencement of the 2023-2024 school year. Prior to the drill, Mr. Raquel C. Arancillo III, SDRRMC Adviser and Coordinator diligently allocated responsibilities to each officer, designating specific buildings for their supervision. On that eventful day, the entire JNHS community, comprising students, faculty, and staff, actively participated. However, due to the sweltering weather, they opted not to evacuate as planned but instead executed the essential "duck, cover, and hold" procedure within their respective offices and classrooms.

Remarkably, the earthquake drill proceeded smoothly, without any reported casualties or patients in need of assistance in the school clinic. Post-drill, the officers found themselves exhausted yet blissful by the experience, enjoying the sense of accomplishment and unity it brought to the school community.

Reflecting on the accomplishments of the SDRRMC during the 2022-2023 school year evokes a sense of nostalgia. Our journey was filled with memorable moments, from the meticulous preparations and the controlled chaos and excitement of earthquake drills to the collaborative brainstorming sessions for hazard mapping, along with the numerous meetings and orientations. The idea of acquiring essential skills, such as learning how to use a fire extinguisher and being prepared to assist during natural disasters, be it a flood, earthquake, or fire at school, was both physically demanding and enjoyable. These were challenging yet fulfilling activities that the SDRRMC members will genuinely treasure for the rest of their lives.
