𝗪𝗩𝗦𝗨 𝗕𝗦 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 - 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗞𝗜𝗕 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

On this day last week, biotechnology students joined WVSU Biology's annual thesis competition 𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗞𝗜𝗕 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 👩‍🔬✨️👨‍🔬

They were given the opportunity to showcase their undergraduate theses, most of which focused on 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🍵🌿 as well as waste valorization and characterization 🌾🥥

Remarkably, Batch 2026 inagurated the first ever 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 held by the department. All student researchers were allowed to join the competition, although only one winner is rewarded per category 📃🏅

The event was also graced by an esteemed panel of judges from various institutions, each carrying with them wisdom and practical knowledge 👩‍🏫🌟👨‍🏫

Though Camp Biotech was not able to earn awards during the event, they took with them invaluable insights and experience; equipped with foresight and fueled with curiosity that they can apply in future research endeavors 🔬🧬

Fourth-year BS Biology - Biotechnology students successfully completed their On-the-Job Training (2nd Rotation) in esteemed institutions across Iloilo City.

Throughout the months of February and March this year, students were trained under expert guidance in various fields, including the academe, research and development, animal disease diagnostics, pharmaceutical industry, and world-class genomics research 🔬📚🦠

As part of our academic requirements in 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝 and 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, we, the 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 of 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, along with our subject professors, Ma'am Ritchelda Auro and Ma'am Loren Mae Guillen, stepped beyond the four corners of the lecture room and into spaces where science meets purpose, innovation, and impact.

Our visit to Herbanext Laboratories, Inc. introduced us to biotechnology as both a scientific discipline and an entrepreneurial venture. We observed how natural resources are developed into sustainable products through research, quality control, and strategic management. 🔬🧪 Meanwhile, our immersion at Talarak Foundation deepened our understanding of conservation, highlighting the importance of protecting endemic species and maintaining ecological balance through responsible stewardship. 🦜🦌

This field trip was more than a requirement, it was a realization that as future biologists, we are not only scientists. 🧑‍🔬

𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑠. 𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑠. 𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒.
