Basuranggola is not just a kite competition, it is a movement. A celebration of creativity, culture, and our shared responsibility to protect Mother Earth.
KITE FLYING COMPETITION MECHANICS
Kids Category – Ages 10 to 16
Open Category – Any age (Yes, pati ikaw nga adult nga creative!)
There is NO LIMIT to the number of participants per category.
REGISTRATION DETAILS
📌 Registration Period: February 28 – April 15, 2026
📌 Register through the Basuranggola FB Page (online or via assigned coordinators)
Registration Fee:
Kids Category – ₱50
Open Category – ₱100
🚫 Any kite that has already won in a previous Basuranggola competition is NOT eligible to join.
Your kite must clearly reflect environmental responsibility — especially reducing plastic waste. We are not just flying kites. We are flying statements.
🛠 DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION GUIDELINES
This is where creativity meets responsibility.
SIZE: No size limit. Go big. Go bold. Just make sure it flies!
MATERIALS: At least 90% of your kite must be made from recycled materials.
🚫 NOT ALLOWED:
Styrofoam
Newly purchased plastics (Garbage Bag)
Toxic materials
Pre-made or commercially bought kite components
If you use materials that look new (fabric, parachute cloth, garbage bags, etc.), you MUST submit a photo of the material in its original recycled form as proof.
Failure to provide proof may result in disqualification.
📸 PRE-APPROVAL REQUIREMENT
Participants must submit a photo of their finished kite at least THREE (3) days before the event for materials review and approval.
The organizers reserve the right to deny flight if the kite has not been pre-approved.
CONSTRUCTION RULE
Each kite must be:
✔ Handmade
✔ Originally designed by the participant
✔ Not commercially assembled
This is about creativity, not convenience.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Your kite will be evaluated based on:
1. Creativity & Originality – 30%
How unique is your design? Does it stand out?
2. Sustainability & Adherence to Theme – 40%
Does your kite strongly represent “Plastic Ends With Me”?
Are materials responsibly sourced and recycled?
3. Functionality & Structural Integrity – 20%
Can it fly properly? Is it durable and well-constructed?
4. Audience Impact – 10%
Does it inspire? Move people? Spark awareness?

🥈 2nd Place – ₱10,000
🥉 3rd Place – ₱5,000
🌟 KIDS CATEGORY
🥇 1st Place – ₱5,000
🥈 2nd Place – ₱3,000
🥉 3rd Place – ₱2,000

📌 OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES
• The decision of the judges is FINAL and irrevocable.
• Entries that fail to meet sustainability standards may face deductions or disqualification.
• By joining, participants agree that the organizers may photograph, record, and publish entries for educational and promotional purposes.
