๐ข HEALTH ADVISORY: PROTECT YOURSELF FROM LEPTOSPIROSIS BEFORE TYPHOON TINO โ ๏ธ
As Typhoon Tino approaches, heavy rains and flooding may occur in parts of Iloilo. The public is advised to stay alert and take preventive measures against Leptospirosis, a bacterial disease transmitted through water contaminated with rat urine.
๐ง Prevention Tips Before and During Flooding:

Avoid wading in floodwaters.

If unavoidable, wear boots or protective gear.

Wash immediately with soap and clean water after contact with floodwater.
โ
Keep wounds covered and dry.
โ
Store food and drinking water in sealed containers.
โ
Maintain cleanliness around your home to prevent rat infestation.
๐จ Be Alert for Symptoms (7โ14 days after exposure):
โข Fever and chills
โข Muscle pain (especially legs and lower back)
โข Headache
โข Red eyes
โข Nausea or vomiting
โข Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
If these symptoms appear after flood exposure, seek medical attention immediately. Early treatment can prevent severe illness.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection transmitted by many animals, such as rodents and
other vermin. Waste products (e.g., urine and f***s) of an infected animal, especially rats,
contaminate the soil, water, and vegetation.
