Congratulations, LGU Kalibo and PSGS Kalibo Team for the success of the “Sayaw Papawis para sa Breast Cancer Awareness Month”!

Held last October 19, 2025 in Kalibo, Aklan, the event brought together local leaders, health advocates, women’s groups, and community members in a vibrant Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, Zumba, and Lay Forum — all in support of early detection, education, and empowerment against breast cancer.

Our heartfelt congratulations to the Municipality of Kalibo, the Aklan Breast Cancer Awareness Coalition, the Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS) – Kalibo Chapter spearheaded by Dr Joseph Jenus Sarabiaand all partner organizations and participants for making this meaningful event possible.

We proudly congratulate the newly inducted PSGS Panay Chapter Board of Directors for Fiscal Year 2025–2026, led by Dr. Segundo Anayan Jr., President. This esteemed team of surgeon-leaders is set to carry forward the mission of excellence, education, and service in our region.

A Heartfelt Message from the Outgoing President of PSGS Panay Chapter, Dr Juliene Latriz-Certeza (2023-2025)

"If you think you are leading, and when you look back and no one is following you—then you are just taking a walk.”

Thank you team Panay! For never allowing me to walk alone.

Thank you for walking behind me—as followers who believed in a shared vision,

Beside me—as collaborators who helped carry the load,

And ahead of me—as trailblazers who inspired and taught me the way.

I accepted this PSGS "Most Outstanding Chapter" award (a milestone first for our chapter),not as a lone figure, but as the representative of a united, passionate, and driven group—the PSGS Panay Chapter.

To the national PSGS, thank you for seeing our small chapter-- for recognizing the quiet hardwork, the small wins, and the steady commitment we have poured into our chapter and the Society.

This award is not mine. It belongs to every committed surgeon who showed up and every member who believed in our shared mission.

We have thrived not just because of leadership—but because of the strength of our followership. I may have ignited the spark but you were the flame that made this fire burning brighter.
