THE YOUTH WILL NOT STAY SILENT! ✊🏼

Today, September 21, thousands of Filipinos are taking to the streets in Manila, Quezon City, and various parts of the country to demand transparency, accountability, and justice in government. Investigations reveal that over ₱545 billion allocated for flood control and infrastructure projects since 2022 may have been misappropriated, with reports of “ghost” and substandard projects putting lives at risk.

Every peso stolen is a peso taken from our schools, hospitals, and communities. Every act of corruption is a violent betrayal of the people’s trust.

The youth are awake, angry, and rising. We demand justice, transparency, and accountability. Panagutin ang mga kurap! This means holding them legally, politically, and morally responsible. The corrupt cannot hide any longer. Their time is up. We will not accept empty promises or token investigations.

Corruption is not just a crime—it is a betrayal of the people. It steals our future, denies our right to education, healthcare, and a dignified life, and abuses the power entrusted to public officials. Today, we rise to demand justice. We demand the return of every stolen peso, the dismantling of corrupt networks, and the restoration of integrity in our institutions.

No compromise. No silence. No turning back. Corruption ends now!

SKC Joins CSPPS as Core Group Member and Country Focal Point for the Philippines

The Sigaw ng Kabataan Coalition (SKC) proudly reaffirms its commitment to amplifying youth voices by joining the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) as a Core Group Member.

The CSPPS is a global network of civil society organizations working to support peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and statebuilding in fragile and conflict-affected settings. It plays a key role in advancing the goals of the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS) and supporting the implementation of the New Deal for Engagement in Fragile States—a landmark framework that promotes inclusive politics, legitimate institutions, and effective pathways to peace and development.

Being part of CSPPS means contributing to a collective effort that bridges grassroots voices and high-level policy platforms, ensuring that communities affected by conflict are heard in national and global decision-making processes. It aligns with SKC’s mission to ensure that Filipino youth are meaningfully represented in conversations that shape peace, governance, and inclusive development.

We believe that peace in diversity is a national priority, and that there can be no sustainable development without peace. Through CSPPS and other multilateral spaces, we continue to advance the participation of young people in building transparent, resilient, and people-centered systems of governance.

Sigaw ng Kabataan Coalition (SKC) aligns with over 60 civil society groups, media organizations, academics—including four framers of the 1987 Constitution—and former senior officials in supporting the Right to Know, Right Now! Coalition (R2KRN)’s demand for a robust Freedom of Information (FOI) law.

This call comes amid ongoing concerns over legislative inertia and political posturing—such as President Marcos Jr.’s recent statements on FOI, which many have questioned as spin or token public relations—highlighted in R2KRN’s latest commentary, “Legislative advocacy: Should we start again? BBM’s spiel on FOI: True, false, spin, PR?” .

As a youth-led organization, SKC underscores that transparency is the foundation of meaningful civic engagement. We affirm that real public participation must be built on timely and accurate information originating from government.

ANNOUNCEMENT | SKC joins UNCAC Coalition

We are proud to announce that Sigaw ng Kabataan Coalition (SKC) is now officially part of the UNCAC Coalition, a global network of civil society organizations committed to advancing the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

This development reflects SKC’s growing role in global efforts to uphold transparency, accountability, and justice. As part of the Coalition, SKC will participate in key working groups tackling whistleblower protection, asset recovery, state capture, and the protection of victims and civic space — areas that are crucial to our work with youth in vulnerable, underrepresented, and conflict-affected communities.

Our participation is made even more meaningful by the legacy of Public Services Labor Independent Confederation(PSLINK), where SKC serves as an institutional member. PSLINK was instrumental in the Philippines’ ratification of UNCAC, and its President, Annie Enriquez-Geron, continues to be a fearless and uncompromising voice against corruption. Her leadership inspires our movement to demand more from our institutions and to act with courage.

This is a new chapter for SKC — one where we bring the voices of young people into global conversations on governance, justice, and reform. We reaffirm our commitment to confronting corruption not just as a policy issue, but as a lived reality that undermines the rights, dignity, and future of the Filipino people.

While we are turning 12 years old this August 18, this milestone in 2015 affirmed our legitimacy and strengthened our commitment to amplify youth voices across the country.

We've come a long way — and we’re not stopping here.

We will continue organizing. We will continue building safe, inclusive spaces for young people. We will continue amplifying their voices.

Samahan ang Bantay Boto 2025 sa Youth Elections Agenda sa darating na May 2, 2025 sa UP School of Statistics Auditorium mula 12 nn hanggang 4 pm.
