Duty to others is one of the oath every Scout recites. Yet, being young—physically developing, mentally maturing, and financially dependent—how can this duty truly be fulfilled?
Thankfully, the Neighborhood Scouting Movement provides every young person the opportunity to share, experience, and grow into well‑nurtured and mature Scouts.
Today marked the first engagement of Outfit 346 Senior Scouts in a Neighborhood Scouting Activity led by the Principal of IRPIS and at the same time the Chairman for Advancement of the BSP Iloilo Confesor Council, Dr. Raymund Tolentino, together with Council Chairman Dr. Luis M. Sorolla Jr. and Council Scout Executive Mr. Eric U. Dumdumaya.
As part of the CPU Junior High School’s adoption of IRPIS through community outreach initiatives, several activities were conducted. This year, the book donation from CPU JHS was further shared with the Ati Orphanage Center in Lanit, Jaro—an indigenous community where literacy must be strengthened through access to books. These efforts aim to instill in young minds the belief that education can help improve their lives and bring economic hope and happiness.
The first activity was a solemn investiture ceremony, formally welcoming Kid, KAB, Boy, and Senior Scouts of IRPIS. Parents were filled with pride as they witnessed their children’s commitment to the Scouting movement, growing hopeful that these young Scouts would one day become the hope of our fatherland.
Volunteers from IRPIS—composed of the Principal, faculty, staff, Scouts, and students—together with Outfit 346 and the Iloilo Confesor Council, then proceeded to the Ati community to share goodwill and service. The volunteers were warmly welcomed as the Ati children showcased their talents through songs, dances, and song interpretations. This was followed by a storytelling session led by Council Chairman Dr. Luis M. Sorolla Jr., who enthusiastically narrated the story titled “Ang Langgam.”
Smiles were evident on the faces of both volunteers and recipients as the activity concluded with a prayer—hoping that all things will indeed work together for good.
