Formerly known as WVSU Drag WVSU Pride is a student-led, non-stock, non-profit, and non-sectarian organization based at West Visayas State University.

𝐖𝐕𝐒𝐔 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄

A student-led organization committed to promoting inclusivity, representation, and empowerment through education, creative advocacy, and community-building within and beyond the university. We are officially registered under the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP) and currently serve as the Committee Chair on Inclusion and Social Equity at the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC). Formerly the WVSU Drag Community, we have grown into an intersectional collective that affirms the dignity, identities, and lived experiences of people from diverse backgrounds. We proudly represent persons of diverse SOGIESC, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and Indigenous Peoples (IPs) both on and off campus. Our work is anchored on three core pillars:

Empower Communities – Building safe, affirming spaces for authentic self-expression, leadership growth, and peer support. Advance Rights and Representation – Advocating against discrimination and amplifying voices in decision-making spaces. Educate for Inclusion – Promoting awareness and understanding of SOGIESC, disability inclusion, cultural sensitivity, and human rights.

Today is a reminder that not everyone experiences attraction the same way and that’s completely okay. Being asexual isn’t something that needs to be questioned or explained over and over again. It’s simply part of who someone is. This day is about making space for people to be seen, understood, and accepted without pressure or judgment.

Let’s be kinder, more open, and willing to learn. A small act of respect can mean a lot to someone who’s used to feeling overlooked. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own identity, just as they are. No explanations needed, just acceptance.

In healthcare, the line between clinical judgment and legal obligation can be razor-thin. Few are equipped to navigate both with authority and clarity. One hand listens to the heartbeat, the other wields the gavel. Where medicine ends, the law begins—and some are uniquely called to walk both paths.

The 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨 proudly introduces 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗢. 𝗗𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗣𝗲ñ𝗮, 𝗥𝗡, a dual-professional whose expertise seamlessly bridges clinical care and legal practice. As both a registered nurse and a jurist, he exemplifies the modern Filipino nurse—armed with compassion, insight, and the legal acumen to safeguard patients and practitioners alike.

He is a graduate of the West Visayas State University - College of Nursing, Class of 2013. Before taking on the call of Law, he was a critical care nurse. Currently, he is the Senior Policy Officer and Health Policy Development Lead at the Unilab Center for Health Policy.

Today, he will lead participants through 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟.𝗔.𝗪. 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗗, shedding light on Advance Medical Directives, POLST, and the legal frameworks that underpin ethical nursing practice. In a field where every decision can have profound consequences, his guidance promises clarity, confidence, and actionable knowledge.

As the appointed hour approaches, participants are hereby called to register for a seminar that brings into focus the legal, ethical, and professional dimensions of nursing practice.
