APEX CLUB OF ILOILO CITY
Club no. 4 District 1

The birth of Apex club of Iloilo City came on August 23, 1971. After proving its worth on October 15, 1973, the Apex Club of Iloilo became the foutrth charter club in the growing community of Apex Philippines

A high point in the life of the club was reached in 1979, a project generously supported by Zone 7 Apex Australia and the City of Iloilo. The

project being the first Apex Work Party in the Philippines, was truly special in having involved a volunteer work party of 22 Australian Apexians coming over at their own personal expense to put up the center, in a novel hands-across the sea concept ot service to fellowmen

This project was awarded the Golden Fleece Award in Stockholm, Sweden in 1980 by the Association of Round Tables Belgium during the WOCO AGM. The club achieved further heights with the successful hosting of the first WOCO Asia Pacific Regional conference (Atsuman) in Iloilo City in 1984. Subsequently, through the WOCO Asia-Pacific Region, Apex Iloilo was able to establish the Apex Pediatric Infectious Ward in the Western Visayas Medical Center. Another project was a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the same hospital

Additional project over the years included the John Donna Plumbing Center at the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, the construction of a couple of Barangay day care centers and up to ten two-classroom buildings in various parts of the city and province of Iloilo. The club has sponsored many livelihood programs, sent various indigent children to school through scholarships and has given annual medical and dental medical missions in far flung municipatilites. It is the first club in the association to have its own foundation. From its ranks rose numerous National Association Presidents, countless national and district offiers. A membership that is exemplary and distinguished not only in its service to Apex but also to the community, the church and the country. She has chartered two Apex Clubs, two Summit Clubs, rechartered five other clubs, drafted the Association Constitution and By-Laws and has authored the Association Manual. Today Apex Iloilo continues that tradition of service and sacrifice, while championing the Ideals of Apex by example and by deeds.

Fifty children, together with their parents, were treated to a hearty meal during the program. This wonderful activity was made possible through the efforts of Barangay Kagawad Ivy Mari Sarria, the supportive wife of APN J. Scott Sarria.

Extra food was also shared with the barangay workers, staff, and pedicab drivers — spreading kindness and care throughout the community.

A successful Medical Mission, along with informative talks on Teenage Pregnancy and Drug Prevention, Gift-giving, and a Feeding Activity, was recently conducted at Brgy. Napnud, Leganes through the collaborative efforts of Restia Group of Companies, RCBC Iloilo Main Branch and the Apex Club of Iloilo City.

The event brought smiles and much-needed nourishment to the children and families in the community. Adding a sweet finale to the day, the Apex Club of Iloilo City generously served ice cream for dessert, a delightful treat that brought joy to the young attendees.
