Hindi lamang ito paggunita sa isang araw ng tagumpay sa kasaysayan. Ang Araw ng Kalayaan ay paalala ng tapang ng mga Pilipinong nangarap ng isang malayang bayan at kumilos upang ito'y makamtan.

Ngayon, ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang nasusukat sa pagiging malaya mula sa pananakop. Ito ay makikita sa ating kakayahang magsalita para sa tama, makilahok sa pagbabago, at maglingkod para sa kapakanan ng kapwa at bayan.

Bilang kabataan, dala natin ang responsibilidad na pangalagaan ang kalayaang ipinaglaban ng mga nauna sa atin sa pamamagitan ng pagiging mulat, makabayan, at handang tumindig para sa katotohanan.

Ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang alaala ng kahapon; ito ay adhikain na dapat nating buhayin araw-araw.
