The University Learning Resource Center (ULRC) successfully conducted the Training & Workshop on Library Collection Disaster Recovery Plan on September 29–30, 2026, at the Reference Section.

The two-day training, facilitated by Resource Speaker Stephen B. Alayon, provided ULRC personnel, satellite campus librarians and BLIS students with valuable knowledge and practical approaches to preparing for, responding to, and recovering from potential disasters affecting library collections.

Participants actively engaged in hands-on activities, discussions, and practical exercises, allowing them to apply disaster recovery concepts in realistic library situations.

Through this training, the ULRC continues to strengthen its preparedness and capacity to protect, preserve, and ensure the continuity of access to valuable library collections.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗟𝗪𝗖 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲

The 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 (𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗗𝗔𝗬) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held last September 26 at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary Gymnasium, brought together registered catechists, WCC Batch 2 graduates, Missio Canonica candidates, quiz bee participants, and delegates for a day of learning, celebration, and fellowship.

Guided by the theme “𝗣𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜: 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗜𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻,” the celebration highlighted the journey and mission of catechists through formation activities, the First Jaro Archdiocesan Catechetical Quiz Bee Grand Finals, the Eucharistic Celebration, and the Ecclesial Commissioning for Missio Canonica.

As part of the celebration, the LWC Renewal Project Committee turned over six boxes of old Living with Christ (LWC) copies, which were subsequently distributed to catechists during the event.

What may have seemed like old and unused copies have now found a new purpose—ready to support catechists in their catechism sessions, Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), and liturgical formation.

This initiative was made possible through the partnership of Ateneo de Iloilo, Bayard Philippines, the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. – Western Visayas Library and Information Center (PLAI-WVLRC), and the Athenaeum Keepers, working together to give old and unused LWC copies a renewed purpose.

𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗼. 𝗢𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹

On August 20, 2026, Bo. Obrero Elementary School hosted ISTORYAFEST 2026: "Community Heroes Uncovered: A Human Library Adventure," bringing together young learners and the everyday heroes who help keep our communities safe.

This event is an initiative to bring young learners closer to the stories, experiences, and important work of community heroes, while helping them learn about safety, responsibility, and the different ways they can contribute to their community.

Serving as resource speakers were representatives from the 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗜, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 – 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, who talked about their work and answered questions from the pupils right after their sharing. The students got to ask what was on their minds and hear firsthand accounts from the heroes themselves.

After the talks and Q&A, the program moved on to games and intermission numbers, which the pupils enjoyed.

(𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗜) – 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗲ñ𝗮𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲.

𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗝𝗠𝗘𝗦

On August 13, 2026, Jalandoni Memorial Elementary School (JMES) became a space for learning, storytelling, and meaningful conversations as ISTORYAFEST 2026: “Community Heroes Uncovered: A Human Library Adventure” brought young learners closer to the everyday heroes who help keep our communities safe.

This event is an initiative to bring young learners closer to the stories, experiences, and important work of community heroes, while helping them learn about safety, responsibility, and the different ways they can contribute to their community.

The young learners then had the opportunity to meet and learn from community heroes and partner agencies, including the 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗜, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 – 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲. Through interactive talks, activities, and open discussions, the students gained valuable lessons on safety, protection, preparedness, and the important roles these community heroes play in our everyday lives.

The learning continued through an engaging question-and-answer session, where the young learners had the chance to ask questions, satisfy their curiosity, and connect with our community heroes.

The success of this meaningful celebration was made possible through the invaluable partnership, support, and collaboration of the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. (𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗜) – 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗲ñ𝗮𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲.
