The PIChE Chemical Process Safety Committee would like to ask your support in achieving one of the team’s objectives: to empower chemical engineering professors to design internationally aligned curricula and effectively teach process safety within their programs.

PIChE CPSC believe this can be accomplished through the following initiatives:
Strengthening Academic Expertise in Process Safety Principles
Equip professors with comprehensive knowledge of hazard analysis and risk evaluation techniques, process safety risk reduction systems, and risk management approaches aligned with global standards (e.g., CCPS, SAChE, IChemE).

Enabling Curriculum Development Aligned with International Best Practices
Support professors in designing and integrating process safety content into chemical engineering programs, ensuring alignment with leading universities and accreditation bodies.

Promoting Effective Teaching and Learning of Process Safety
Provide access to modern teaching tools, case studies, and assessment methods to enhance student engagement and strengthen understanding of real-world process safety challenges.

For this year, our primary focus is on strengthening professors’ competencies in the field of process safety. To design effective training programs, we would like to understand the Process Safety knowledge gaps within the academe.

To support this, we are conducting a Competency and Needs Assessment Survey. The Academe's participation and valuable insights will play a crucial role in shaping meaningful and impactful Process Safety training programs for the academic community and addressing the needs of our Chemical Engineering Educators. We look forward to receiving the completed surveys by April 17, 2026.

📚 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 (𝗟𝗢𝗣𝗔) - a semi-quantitative risk assessment method used to evaluate the adequacy of independent protection layers

We express our profound sorrow upon learning of the passing of Dr. Jose P. Peralta, a former president of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers Panay Chapter (PIChE Panay Chapter). Dr. Peralta also served as a National Board Member for Visayas on the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers National Board of Trustees (PIChE NBoT). His invaluable contributions as one of the pillars of our chapter will be lasting memories for his fellow chemical engineers in Panay and throughout the nation.

We extend our deepest condolences to his immediate family and friends during this difficult time. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of engineers.

A week later, and we’re still energized by the momentum from our Strategic Planning!

It was a highly productive day where our officers came together to reflect, align our goals, and map out the direction of the Chapter for the year ahead.

Exciting plans are underway, and we look forward to sharing them with all of you soon. This is just the beginning—so stay tuned for the initiatives, activities, and opportunities that lie ahead.

The future of our Chapter is something to look forward to, and we’re excited to move forward together with our members. 💙
