The newly elected officers of the Iligan City Government Employees Union (ICGEU) for the term 2025–2027, led by President Ibarra Carampatan, actively participated in the 127th National Flag Day celebration held at the Iligan City Public Plaza on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The annual observance brought together local government officials, civic organizations, public servants, and citizens in a solemn ceremony honoring the Philippine flag—an enduring symbol of the nation's freedom, sovereignty, and unity.
During the event, participants paid tribute through the ceremonial raising of the Philippine flag, singing of the national anthem, and special messages emphasizing patriotism, unity, and love of country. President Carampatan, together with the new ICGEU officers, joined fellow government employees in reaffirming their commitment to serve the public with integrity and uphold the values embodied by the national flag.
National Flag Day is commemorated every May 28 to mark the first unfurling of the Philippine flag in 1898 following the victory at the Battle of Alapan in Cavite. It also kicks off the observance of National Flag Days, which runs until June 12, Philippine Independence Day.
The ICGEU’s active participation in civic activities such as this highlights the union’s enduring commitment to nation-building, solidarity, and service to the people of Iligan.
