𝐾𝑖𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑠 𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑏𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑠ℎ 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑔 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑎𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑔 𝑟𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑙 𝑝𝑢𝑝𝑖𝑙𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑢𝑙𝑜𝑔.

March 5, 2026 — Members of the 𝗞𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 and the 𝗞𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 conducted a community outreach activity at 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, providing snacks to Grade 5 pupils and delivering a short educational talk on proper waste management and environmental responsibility.

As part of Kiwanis’ continuing commitment to serving children and promoting sustainable communities, the Kiwanians conducted a short lecture on the 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆. The pupils learned about the effects of improper waste disposal, the community’s shared responsibility in protecting the environment, and the importance of practicing the 𝟯𝗥𝘀—𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲, 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲.

To make the activity more engaging, the pupils were shown sample pictures of different types of waste and asked to identify whether the items were biodegradable or non-biodegradable. The exercise helped the children better understand how proper waste segregation contributes to a cleaner and healthier community.

The outreach activity was conducted in partnership with 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 – 𝐈𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 (𝐌𝐒𝐔-𝐈𝐈𝐓) through the 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝟒𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 community initiative, which introduces young learners to the basics of computer programming. During the session, pupils were given a brief introduction to 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐉𝐫, a beginner-friendly application that allows children to create simple animations through block-based coding.

Through this initiative, Kiwanis continues to make a meaningful impact by nurturing young minds, promoting environmental awareness, and creating opportunities for children to learn and grow.
