PIPOL Power - Iligan expresses deep concern and sadness over the recent announcement by the Department of Energy (DOE) regarding the Agus-Pulangui Hydropower Complex โ a facility that has long served as a lifeline for affordable, renewable electricity for the people of Mindanao. This development threatens to deepen the burden already carried by consumers who continue to pay some of the highest electricity rates in the country.
We note that no final awarding has yet been made, and we intend to use this window fully. Through the Movement Against Privatization of Agus Pulangui (MAPA), our continuing actions include following up on pending petitions with relevant regulatory and government agencies, pursuing accountability over questionable power supply arrangements, and standing as intervenors against proposed rate increases that would burden consumers for years to come.
PIPOL Power remains firm: there is still no final award, and there is still time to fight. We call on every Iliganon, every Mindanaoan, and every partner institution to stand with us as we push back against a privatization scheme that threatens to make Mindanao's own power resources a source of profit for a few instead of relief for the many.
