The Rotary WASH Project was implemented through a collaborative and systematic process to ensure the sustainability and Safety of the community’s water supply. The project began with taking into consideration the initial water testing result done mid last year to determine the quality of the water source. This was followed by a coordination meeting involving the barangay Captain Emelie Echiverri, School Head Aristotle Salatandre, on the phone the owner of the water source Mr. Raffy L. Jimenez, our RCUI President Ma Lorraine Escalante and our Sky Hydrant partner through IIT We Care Director Dr. Rosario Reserva to discuss the project plan, roles and technical requirements.

After the initial agreements, site visits were done, assessments were conducted to evaluate the location, measurements of pipes needed from the water source to prepare for the installation. Necessary preparations were undertaken, including organizing materials and coordinating materials and coordinating with local stakeholders. Subsequently, after the piping’s were in placed and water has been flowing freely by gravity, the Sky Hydrant Max Water Filtration was installed, marking the start of the project’s implementation. Through this initiative, the Rotary WASH Project aims to provide the school learners, teachers and the nearby community a safe clean and sustainable drinking water while promoting improved sanitation and hygiene

District 3870 Humanitarian Visit and Relief Distribution
In Partnership with Rotary Clubs of Zone 2

On the afternoon of the same day, the Rotary service continued with the arrival of District Governor Marlowe C. Selecios of Rotary International District 3870. His presence in Iligan City brought further encouragement and support to the ongoing relief efforts for families affected by Typhoon Basyang. Accompanying him were Lady Mai Selecios and Assistant District Secretary Mariette S. Castigador, who joined the Council of Presidents of Zone 2 and members of the Rotary Clubs in extending compassion to the evacuees.

Governor Selecios personally donated hygiene kits, recognizing the urgent need for sanitation and health essentials in evacuation centers. Together with the Council and Rotarians from Zone 2, the team visited DJAL Memorial Elementary School, where many displaced families had been temporarily relocated. The distribution of hygiene kits complemented the earlier relief packs of food and bedding, ensuring that evacuees received comprehensive assistance for their immediate needs.

The visit was marked by genuine fellowship and solidarity, as Rotarians worked hand in hand to uplift the spirits of those who had lost homes and livelihoods. The presence of the District Governor and his team underscored the strength of Rotary’s network—leaders and members united across clubs and zones to respond swiftly and meaningfully in times of crisis.

This activity not only provided material aid but also reinforced the message of hope and resilience. It highlighted Rotary’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and the power of collective action in rebuilding lives and communities.

Rotary Club of Uptown Iligan Reach-Out Mission
In Collaboration with Rotary Clubs of Zone 2 and the Council of Presidents

In the aftermath of Typhoon Basyang, the Rotary Club of Uptown Iligan, under the leadership of President Maria Lorraine B. Escalante, spearheaded a humanitarian reach-out mission in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Zone 2 and the Council of Presidents headed by Council Chair President Ritchie Rubio. This joint effort exemplified the Rotary spirit of “Service Above Self,” bringing together leaders and members united in compassion and action.

The Council of Presidents prepared essential relief packs consisting of rice, water containers, bed sheets, and blankets. These items were carefully assembled to provide immediate comfort and support to families affected by the typhoon’s devastation. On the day of distribution, the group visited Barangay Tambacan and Barangay Mahayahay, two of the hardest-hit communities in Iligan City. With genuine concern and solidarity, the Rotarians personally handed over the relief goods to residents, ensuring that assistance reached those most in need.

Adding significance to the activity was the presence of the First Lady of Iligan City, herself a dedicated Rotarian, who joined the mission and extended her support to the affected families. Her participation underscored the strong partnership between civic organizations and local leadership in responding to community crises.

The outreach not only provided material aid but also uplifted the spirits of the residents, reminding them that they are not alone in their recovery journey. Through this collaborative initiative, the Rotary Clubs of Zone 2 reaffirmed their commitment to humanitarian service and demonstrated the power of unity in times of adversity.
