IBCI Brings Hope to Typhoon Basyang Victims in Iligan City
When Typhoon Basyang ravaged Iligan City, leaving homes damaged and families struggling, hope seemed fleeting for many. Yet, in the midst of despair, the Iligan Bay Chamber of Industries, Inc. (IBCI) stepped forward, turning compassion into action and proving that even in the darkest storms, solidarity shines brightest.
On Friday, February 13, 2026, the halls of IBCI buzzed with purpose and urgency. Members from various companies rolled up their sleeves, carefully packing relief goods with an unwavering determination. Each item was more than a necessity. It was a symbol of care, empathy, and the message that no family would face this calamity alone.
Just two days later, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, IBCI volunteers delivered the relief packs to 176 families at Iligan City Central Elementary School, one of the city’s hardest-hit communities. The air was heavy with both the lingering memory of the storm and the anticipation of help arriving. The scene was a powerful testament to human kindness: grateful smiles, tears of relief, and the warmth of neighbors and strangers alike coming together in a shared mission.
By the end of the day, 176 families had received their relief packs. But what lingered was more than relief. It was hope reborn, hearts mended, and a community reminded that even in devastation, light can pierce the darkness. The IBCI’s mission was not just to hand out supplies; it was to restore faith, to remind the people of Iligan City that storms may break walls, but they cannot break the bonds of care, compassion, and shared humanity.
To IBCI, thank you for moving as one body with one heart. Thank you for proving that an organization can be more than meetings and plans, it can be a lifeline.
To the volunteers, thank you for giving your time, your strength, and your compassion. Thank you for choosing kindness when it would have been easier to step back. Thank you for being the calm after the storm.
Typhoon Basyang may have left scars on Iligan City, but because of IBCI and its volunteers, it also left behind something else. This is a story of humanity, courage, and hope that will never fade.
