Guided by the theme “Mapayapang Bukas Abot-Kamay sa Bagong Pilipinas,” may we continue to build a nation where every act of kindness becomes a step toward a peaceful tomorrow. Together, let us keep working for a future where harmony is not only hoped for but lived and embraced.

The MSU-IIT Youth Chain of Peace (MYCoP) proudly celebrates the excellence of its members at the 3rd Pasigarbo sa Diyandi: Youth Leadership and Excellence Awards 2025, held on September 5, 2025, at D’orchard, Bara-as, Tubod, Iligan City.

At the forefront of this recognition is Shakira Farhana Derico, named the Golden Awardee in the In-School Youth Leaders in College Level Category. Shakira has long been known for her strong advocacy on Environmental Peace, integrating sustainability and peacebuilding to empower communities and promote harmony between people and the environment. Her recognition stands as a powerful testament to her unwavering commitment to youth leadership and transformative action.

Also shining in the same category, Jafar Saga Zamora emerged as a Finalist and bagged a Special Award for Leadership and Governance, while Al-Gafar Canon Mauna earned a Special Award for Leadership and Advocacy.

Meanwhile, Hiroge E. Gumila and Ariel Ebale II also joined the same category and proudly reached the Interview Level, marking their active participation and continued commitment to advancing peace and youth empowerment through their advocacies.

Together, these achievements highlight the dedication and passion of MYCoP youth leaders and volunteers, whose collective efforts continue to inspire peace, service, and positive change in their communities.

The MSU-IIT Youth Chain of Peace (MYCoP) was honored as a Finalist in the Outstanding Youth Organization Project Category during the 3rd Pasigarbo sa Diyandi: Youth Leadership and Excellence Awards 2025, held on September 5, 2025, at D’orchard, Bara-as, Tubod, Iligan City.

Through its initiative, 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, MYCoP gained recognition in two categories: Economic Empowerment, which highlights youth-driven efforts in creating livelihood and sustainable opportunities, and Peacebuilding & Security, which recognizes initiatives that foster dialogue, harmony, and community resilience.

This recognition reflects MYCoP’s enduring commitment to empowering the youth, strengthening community ties, and advancing peace through meaningful action. The Pasigarbo Awards, celebrated during the Diyandi Festival, continue to highlight the transformative role of young leaders and organizations in shaping a brighter and more peaceful future.

𝗠𝗬𝗖𝗼𝗣 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 2025: 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆

The MSU-IIT Youth Chain of Peace (MYCoP) joined the Organization Fair 2025: Peryang Pinoy held on August 12–14, 2025 at the University Peace Park as part of the Welcoming Week for freshies. The event brought together student organizations and publications across the Institute, each showcasing their identity, advocacies, and contributions to student life.

For MYCoP, the fair was more than just an introduction—it was a chance to share the story of peacebuilding with the newest members of the MSU-IIT community. Through creative booths, interactive activities, and warm conversations, the team introduced freshies to MYCoP’s vision, projects, and legacy of promoting peace, inclusivity, and youth leadership.

The fair also provided a unique space for connecting with students eager to find their place in the university. Many first-year students expressed interest in learning more about peacebuilding and were inspired by MYCoP’s initiatives such as Project PLAY, community dialogues, and capacity-building workshops. The experience was a reminder that peace begins in small conversations, and that the passion of the youth can ignite big changes.

MYCoP extends their gratitude to the Council of Organizations (COO) for creating a vibrant and meaningful platform for student groups to engage with the incoming batch. To the freshies, we say: welcome to MSU-IIT, and may your journey be filled with growth, leadership, and the spirit of kalinaw!

Together, let’s continue to build a community where peace thrives.

𝗠𝗬𝗖𝗼𝗣 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆

MYCoP proudly celebrates Jalilah Sarip, Pamela II Pepito, and Al-gafar Mauna for representing the organization at the POWER with YOUth: 2025 Champions for Peace Training on Social Cohesion and Resilience held on August 8–10, 2025 at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.

The training brought together 100 youth leaders from across the Philippines, each carrying the weight of their own stories, hopes, and advocacies—and proudly wearing the culture and traditions of their communities. It became a living festival of diversity, with performances, traditional attire, and showcases that told the story of our shared yet varied identities.

For our delegates, the experience went deeper than learning frameworks or strategies. It became a personal awakening—a reminder that peacebuilding starts with the courage to stand as your true self. “No need to shy away from your identity or be afraid of being judged for who you are. The sharings made me realize it’s up to us if we let others get to us. Sometimes people judge because they’ve never been exposed, and that’s why showing who you are matters—so they can understand, not assume.” said Sarip.

Hearing the voices of fellow youth leaders from different corners of the country drove home another truth: age does not limit leadership. “It’s amazing what young people can do. The youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also of today. And when we move together, the collective becomes a force nothing can ignore.” said Pepito.

Organized by KRIS and the Kofi Annan Foundation, with support from the Temasek Foundation, Nagulendran Philanthropy Alliance, and Diana Koh Fund, the program became a space where barriers dissolved, stereotypes were challenged, and unity was no longer just a vision—it was felt, lived, and celebrated.

MYCoP stands proud of Jalilah, Pamela, and Al-gafar for showing up, speaking up, and bringing the spirit of inclusive peace to the national stage.

𝗠𝗦𝗨-𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗽 10 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼 2025

The MSU-IIT Youth Chain of Peace (MYCoP) has once again proven its dedication to peace and community service, earning recognition as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Student Organizations in the prestigious 2025 Gawad Serbisyo Awards. The awarding ceremony was held on August 13, 2025, at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium, celebrating student excellence and organizational impact across the campus.

This marks the second consecutive year that MYCoP has secured a place among the institute’s best, following last year’s achievement. The recognition stands as a testament to the organization’s unwavering commitment to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and social responsibility, while actively contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over the past year, MYCoP has spearheaded numerous initiatives, including capacity-building workshops, community dialogues, and Project PLAY (Peace Leadership for the Youth), which gamifies complex peace concepts to make them more accessible to the younger generation.

President Hiroge E. Gumila shared, “This is all because of the hard work and dedication of every MYCoP member and the people who continue to support and believe in us in all our goals, projects, dreams, and hopes we strive to achieve. Thank you so much, and magpadayon ta para sa kalinaw.”

Special recognition is given to the undying support of the Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM), headed by Dr. Mark Anthony J. Torres, Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and IPDM Director, and to Ms. Juvy T. Cambaya, MYCoP Adviser and Peace Action Coordinator of IPDM, whose steadfast guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in the organization’s continued success.

The Gawad Serbisyo Awards is an annual recognition program that honors outstanding student organizations and publications in MSU-IIT for their excellence in leadership, service, and meaningful contribution to the institute and the wider community.

By securing this recognition again, MYCoP reaffirms its role as a leading force for peace within the university and beyond—continuing to inspire young people to take part in building a more just, inclusive, and harmonious society in line with the global call for sustainable development.
