The Division Federation Supreme Secondary Learners Government (DFSSLG) of SDO Iligan visited Juan B. Tabla Elementary School to volunteer in tidying up the school environment for the elementary students at Brgy. Pugaan last February 9, 2026 after experiencing a State of Calamity in Iligan.
Despite the distance from the city proper, the organization was able to participate in volunteering at JBES such as cleaning the chairs and clearing the pathways of the school as part of the scope of their advocacy focusing on the educational sector of the division.
According to DFSSLG Treasurer of Suarez NHS, Cris Rouel Veluz, "All I can say is that we did a portion only, but that portion is one step closer to finally overcoming the aftermath. DFSSLG Iligan are an aspiring youth leader whose responsibility is not only limited to student needs, but also to the community. " With great power, comes with great responsibility" A quote that always fueled the heart of these students to help on what they can. Leaders are not just there to be the piece, but form the pieceโ duyug ta, bangon iliganon!"
A total of eight schools participated in ths initiative, namely: Iligan City National High School (ICNHS), Iligan City East National High School (ICENHS), Tomas Cabili National High School (TCNHS), Hinaplanon National High School (HNHS), Suarez National High School (SNHS), Kiwalan National High School (KNHS), Acelo Badelles Memorial High School (ABMHS), and Ditucalan National High School (DNHS).
Apart from the said initiative, the DFSSLG also conducted their Donation Drive, gathering monetary assistance to provide school supplies for the learners who were affected by the typhoon.
This initiative was initially conceptualized by the DFSSLG officers after seeing a post of the teacher in JBES, Kian Agan, showing aftermath situation of the school through a google meeting with the DFSSLG Vice President, Kint Bayking, as the presiding officer and the executive officers as the initial participants last February 7, 2026.
Meanwhile, the idea was then pushed through by the DFSSLG Auditor of Hinaplanon NHS, Abdulhamim Magomnang, after contacting Agan for a collaboration and presentation of the said initiative.
DFSSLG President from ICNHS, Bianca Grace Walid, finalized the idea through a google meeting last February 8 along with the executives and the board members. She then offered a transportation for the volunteers shouldered by their school.
