Inter-Fraternity Council Leaders

Inter-Fraternity Council Leaders This (IFCL) Inter-Fraternity Council Leaders will be our way to the Strong Unity and Unified Fraternities DeMolay was founded in 1919 by Frank S. Frank S.

Land, a successful businessman in Kansas City, Missouri. During World War I, Land had become concerned with the plight of boys who had lost their fathers in battle. He decided there was a need for an organization where they could associate with others of their age and learn responsibility and other life skills. A fatherless boy named Louis Lower and eight of his friends became the first DeMolay me

mbers. Land first met with Louis Lower in January 1919. The original founding date of the order was February 19, 1919. That was later changed to the official launching date of March 18, 1919 to commemorate the death of Jacques DeMolay. The organization is named after Jacques De Molay, a knight and crusader who was the 23rd and last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. He was taken prisoner by King Philip IV of France, who wanted to seize the Templars' wealth. De Molay was tortured repeatedly to force him to admit to charges of heresy. However, he later recanted his statements and declared both himself and his Order innocent. He was therefore burned at the stake. Members are encouraged to model their conduct after Jacques DeMolay's example of loyalty and fidelity. The organization grew rapidly, and by the end of 1921, Land realized he had to devote full time to it. Interest developed in the Masonic fraternity, and official recognition and approval by Masonic groups began in many states. Today, many members of DeMolay go on to become Masons when they are of legal age. DeMolay continued its growth, initiating new members and instituting new chapters in every state of the USA and several other nations, including even Iran prior to the Islamic Revolution of the late 1970s. Active membership in the US reached its peak in the 1970s but has since been in decline, but by 2010 many states began seeing net growth and the group appears to be preparing for a new period of growth. Alpha Phi Omega was founded on December 16, 1925 at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania,[1] by Frank Reed Horton and 13 other students who were former Boy Scouts and scouters, as a way to continue participating in the ideals of Scouting at the college level. These founding brothers were Frank Reed Horton, Everett William Probst, Ephraim Moyer Detwiler Jr., Thane Sanford Cooley, William Taylor Wood, Lewis Burnett Blair, Gordon Minnier Looney, Donald LeRoy Terwilliger, William Weber Highberger Robert Jefferson Green, Donald H. Fritts, Ellsworth Stewart Dobson, George Axel Olsen, and Herbert Heinrich. Six advisors were also inducted: Lafayette President John H. MacCracken, Dean Donald B. Prentice, Professors D. Arthur Hatch and Harry T. Spengler; one local Scouting official, Herbert G. Horton, and one national Scouting official, the national director of relationships for the Boy Scouts of America, Ray O. Wyland.[9][10] The founders insisted that all those gaining membership must pledge to uphold the fraternity's three cardinal principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. Alpha Phi Omega became a national fraternity on January 11, 1927 with the founding of Beta chapter at University of Pittsburgh.[9] Horton served as Supreme Grand Master from the founding of the fraternity until the 1931 convention. A total of 18 chapters were founded during this period. At the 1931 convention, H. Roe Bartle was elected as Supreme Grand Master (title changed to National President in 1934)[11][12] and served through World War II, stepping down at the 1946 convention. During his time as president, the number of chapters grew to 109. Early in his term (October 1931), Alpha Phi Omega was formally recognized by the Boy Scouts of America.[13]

The organization, originally known as the "Order of the U.P. Triskelions", was founded on October 4, 1968 by four Arts and Science students from the University of the Philippines, in the Diliman campus, Quezon City, Philippines. The group swelled in ranks and gained its recognition when the Greek-lettered name Tau Gamma Phi was adopted. A few years later, chapters from other college and university campuses in the Philippines were established. The Tau Gamma Phi aims for the promotion and achievement of the ideals of fraternal brotherhood. The fraternity believes that it must forge its members to embody qualities of leadership, commitment, persistence, trust, integrity, respect, and vision. This fraternity aims for academic success, personal, career and spiritual growth, active participation in the community through service and social activities. The Tau Gamma Phi is committed to developing a best-in-class brotherhood organization: a student organization that embodies its own ideals and mission in accordance to fraternity's Tenets and Codes of Conduct. A member of Tau Gamma Phi is called a Triskelion. A Triskelion has always lived up to the Three Dynamic Forces; Fortis (Strength), Voluntas (Free Will) and Fraternitas (Brotherhood). The Gamma Epsilon Fraternity is an international service fraternity founded at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, Philippines on August 25, 1963. It's sister organization, the Gamma Lambda Epsilon Sorority was established on August 25, 1965, the first year anniversary of the fraternity. After the establishment of the organization at UST (Alpha chapter), the founders and pioneers organized chapters around the university-belt area starting at the University of the East which became Beta chapter, the Delta chapter at the Adamson University, Feati University (Omicron), Mapua Institute of Technology (Kappa), the Central Colleges of the Philippines (Gamma), the Jose Rizal College (Eta), the Ateneo de Manila University (Epsilon), the Arellano University (Rho), the University of the Manila (Mu), the National University (Nu), Centro Escolar University (Lambda), the University of the Philippines (Upsilon), the Far Eastern University which was named as Chi chapter, the San Beda College (Alpha Alpha), the Lyceum of the Philippines (Beta Alpha), the Technological Institute of the Philippines (Omicron Alpha), the San Sebastian College (Beta Beta), and the Letran College (Alpha Beta). Fraternity officers and members from Alpha chapter also organized in the provinces including the Pi chapter at the Central Luzon State University, Zeta chapter at the Nueva Viscaya State Institute of Technology, the Omega chapter at the University of the Philippines in Los Banos, the Tau chapter at the Laguna College of Business and Arts, the Phi chapter at the University of Northern Philippines, the Sigma chapter at the Gregoria Araneta University Foundation, the Theta chapter at the St. Louis University, Iota chapter at the Mountain State Agricultural College (Benguet State University), and Xi chapter at the University of Baguio. In January 1968, Gamma Epsilon established its first nest in the Visayas, the Psi chapter, at the Cebu Normal College. The Zeta Phi chapter at the Southwestern University was organized in 1969. Gamma Epsilon became a nationwide organization in the Philippines when it was brought at the Central Mindanao University-Zeta Omega Chapter in Bukidnon in 1972. From CMU, it was brought to Mindanao State University - Omega Rho Chapter in Marawi City on February 15, 1975. From the 1970's to the 1980's, Gamma Epsilon rapidly grew and established nests in almost all universities and colleges throughout the country. At present, the Gamma Epsilon Fraternity and Gamma Lambda Epsilon Sorority are honored as among the oldest and largest fraternal organizations with chapters chartered in over 200 colleges and universities across the Philippines. In 1979, Gamma Epsilon became an international organization when the chapter at the Central University of Madrid in Spain was opened, almost simultaneous with the establishment of the chapters at the University of Honolulu and University of Canada. Presently, there were also chapters chartered in California and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 2002, Gamma Epsilon established its latest international chapter at Cholanlonkorn University in Thailand. Gamma Epsilon is registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission as non-stock, non-profit, non-dividend corporation. Any updates by the organization will be published through circulars during its Regional and National Conventions. Samahang Ilokano was originally founded in the late 1950s as a fraternity to unite Ilocano speaking students. Ilocano speaking students from Northern Luzon provinces would pursue higher education in universities away from home and seek fellow Ilocanos for company and protection. Soon enough the fraternity grew in number, which attracted scrutiny from other fraternities. Growt of member population also sparked uncontrollable brawls and riots, some of which landed members in prison. The Genuine Ilocano Gang (GIG) was formed as a group for SI members who were incarcerated, and soon accepted members from within the prison. Power struggles within the fraternity led to further separation of members. Hence, the birth of another faction now known as United Ilocandia Fraternity/Sorority (UI). The lack of organization created tension between the three groups
