Agarwood Trees Agarwood, aloeswood, eaglewood or gharuwood is a fragrant dark resinous wood used in incense, perfume, and small carvings.

It is formed in the heartwood of aquilaria trees when they become infected with a type of mold (Phialophora parasitica).
