LOOK: Youth Capacitation Camp: Discover, Advocate, and Empower

Last October 29โ€“31, 2025, thirty youth leaders from the municipalities of Salcedo and Guiuan came together for a transformative 3-day Youth Capacitation Camp held at Diane & Joy Hotel and Beach Resort, Brgy. Burak, Salcedo, Eastern Samar.

Organized by Youth Organization of Bungtod and Sentro para sa Ikauunlad ng Katutubong Agham at Teknolohiya (SIKAT) Inc., the camp provided a safe and empowering space for young people to deepen their self-awareness, strengthen their confidence, and build meaningful connections with fellow youth advocates.

Day one featured interactive sessions such as strengths-spotting, emotional literacy games, storytelling circles, and art-based reflection exercises.

On the second day, participants engaged in advocacy-oriented learning sessions covering child rights, coastal resource management, disaster preparedness, health awareness, and online safety. Representatives from the Salcedo MENRO, MSWDO, MDRRMO, RHU, and PNP Women and Children Protection Desk served as resource speakers, offering insights on local issues and relevant laws.

The final day focused on practical skills building, including workshops on project proposal writing, event organizing, and public speaking. Youth groups later crafted and presented mini advocacy projects designed for implementation in their respective barangays.

The 3-day camp not only strengthened their knowledge and skillsโ€”it also rekindled their sense of purpose, community, and responsibility as young leaders committed to making positive change.
SIKAT Inc. extends its gratitude to all partner offices, speakers, barangay youth organizations, and supporters who helped make this activity possible. Together, we continue to build a generation of empowered, informed, and proactive youth advocates.

A Center Rebuilt, A Future Renewed

On November 8, 2025, Brgy. Bungtod, Guiuan, Eastern Samar marked a significant milestone with the Turnover Ceremony of the newly renovated Child and Youth Development Center.

After three months of continuous renovation, the center has been successfully completedโ€”now standing as a dedicated space for the development and empowerment of the children and youth of the community.

This achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of SIKAT Inc., the Barangay Council, the SK Council, and the Youth Organization of Bungtod , whose unity and commitment were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Kindernothilfe e.V. Philippines for providing the essential funding and support that enabled the completion of this initiative.

The Child and Youth Development Center was established with the goal of creating a safe, inclusive, and dynamic environment where young people can enhance their skills, discover their talents, strengthen their knowledge, and actively participate in meaningful activities. It serves as a space that encourages creativity, leadership, and continuous learning.

This project is a testament to the communityโ€™s shared dedication to investing in its younger generation. It demonstrates what can be achieved through strong partnerships, active youth involvement, and collective commitment toward progress.

As the center is formally turned over to the community, we look forward to the lasting positive impact it will create for the children and youth of Brgy. Bungtod in the years ahead.
