Skillful Snow Leaders Lead BSED English 3Aโ€™s Donation of 60 Student Fables to Boost Yuson Literacy, with DPS, TCP, and FEA Support

On May 15, 2026, the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) English 3A cohort completed a meaningful outreach initiative that connected higherโ€‘education learning with grassroots literacy promotion. As part of the Elective 2: Creative Writing curriculum, whose competencies include the construction and publication of creative writing pieces, such as flash fiction and fable, students produced a corpus of 60 original fables. These studentโ€‘created stories were formally donated to the Dead Poets Society (DPS), the College of Educationโ€™s English majorsโ€™ club at World Citi Colleges, Guimba Campus, and subsequently distributed to young readers in Barangay Yuson through a community extension activity.

The donation took place during the Reading on Wheels program at Yuson Elementary School, a community literacy and numeracy extension project led principally by Skillful Snow Leaders (SSL) with collaborative support from DPS, The Ciphering Plebeians (TCP), and the Future Educators Association (FEA). Reading on Wheels aims to strengthen foundational reading and arithmetic skills among primaryโ€‘grade learners by providing accessible learning resources and volunteerโ€‘led reading sessions and numeracy tutoring session. This yearโ€™s installment incorporated the newly produced fable storybooks and Mathematics module as instructional and inspirational resources for pupils.

The initiative integrated pedagogical objectives and civic engagement. For SSL, this achievement marked the beginning of a more community based literacy and numeracy session. For BSED English 3A students, the creation of 60 fables served as an applied exercise in narrative craft, genre awareness, audience adaptation, and publication practiceโ€”key competencies outlined in the Elective 2 syllabus. For community learners, the arrival of printed fables augmented the schoolโ€™s reading materials and provided culturally relevant, ageโ€‘appropriate stories that model moral reasoning, language development, and imaginative engagement.

During the event, SSL, DPS, TCP, and FEA facilitators and other student volunteers, organized reading circles, guided storytelling sessions, Math tutoring, and bookโ€‘sharing activities that encouraged active participation among Yuson Elementary pupils. Members of DPS formally presented the studentโ€‘authored fable collections to school head teacher- May-Ann D. Martinez, highlighting the collaborative pathway that connected tertiary coursework with community service. SSL, DPS, TCP, and FEA volunteers supported literacy activities and assisted with logistical coordination. FEA led meal preparation, ensuring that every learner gains food. The donated books were also ensured to be catalogued for classroom use and allotted to learners in ways that maximized accessibility.

The partnership exemplifies mutually beneficial academicโ€‘community collaboration. Student writers gained realโ€‘world experience in crafting literature and numeracy modules for young audiences and in coordinating a structured donation, while the elementary school received durable instructional materials that will support reading and numerical fluency and moral literacy. School officials expressed appreciation for the contribution, noting that the materials will be integrated into classroom reading and arithmetic programs and shared during current and future reading and numericโ€‘focused activities.
This project reflects the collegeโ€™s broader commitment to serviceโ€‘learning and the cultivation of professional competencies in future educators. By translating classroom assignments into tangible community resources, the WCC COED cohort demonstrated responsible stewardship of academic work and a clear orientation toward socially responsive teaching practices.

Children may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

With hearts full of compassion and dedication to service, the BEED students together with Christine Joy Dadivas successfully conducted โ€œThe Happy Hearts Initiative: Inspiring Young Minds Through Community Actionโ€ at Yuson Elementary School last May 08, 2026.

The outreach activity became a meaningful day filled with joy, learning, and unforgettable memories for the pupils. The volunteers prepared feeding activities, distributed school supplies, facilitated educational activities, and organized interactive games with exciting prizes that brought smiles and laughter to the children.

More than giving gifts and assistance, the initiative reflected the true essence of community action โ€” sharing kindness, inspiring young minds, and creating positive experiences that children can carry with them as they grow. Through teamwork, service, and genuine care, the activity became a reminder that even simple acts can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Great things grow when people work together with one purpose and one heart.

In line with the spirit of community service and bayanihan, the BSTM students together with Reynaldo Danzalan successfully conducted the activity entitled โ€œGulay para sa Lahat: Sama-Samang Tanim ng Pag-Asa at Tulongโ€ held last May 06 and May 09, 2026 at Barangay Bantug and Bantug Elementary School.

The activity aimed to promote unity, sustainability, and community involvement through gardening and outreach efforts. With teamwork and dedication, the volunteers participated in planting vegetables and encouraging the importance of food sustainability and environmental awareness within the community and school.

More than planting crops, the initiative planted hope, cooperation, and compassion among everyone involved. Through simple yet meaningful actions, the activity became a reminder that when people come together to help one another, communities grow stronger and brighter for the future.

On April 30, 2026, the BSBA Alpha students of World Citi Colleges Guimba Campus conducted the โ€œStreetfood Livelihood Programโ€ at Tampac 1, Guimba, Nueva Ecija โ€” a meaningful community outreach initiative dedicated to empowering lives through simple yet sustainable livelihood opportunities. More than providing knowledge and assistance, this program aims to inspire hope among families and individuals who continuously strive to provide for their loved ones despite lifeโ€™s challenges.

The Streetfood Livelihood Program symbolizes the belief that even the smallest opportunity can become the beginning of a brighter future. Through this initiative, BSBA Alpha hopes to encourage community members to discover their potential, strengthen their confidence, and realize that hard work partnered with support and compassion can open doors to new possibilities. Every shared idea, every helping hand, and every moment of service reflects the studentsโ€™ commitment to becoming instruments of positive change in society.

As future business leaders, the students believe that true success is not only measured by profit, but also by the ability to uplift others and create meaningful impact within the community. With hearts driven by service and unity, BSBA Alpha continues to prove that genuine compassion, when turned into action, can touch lives, empower dreams, and leave lasting hope in the hearts of many.
