The Shadow of Impunity: Ending Extrajudicial Killings

Extrajudicial killings, a spark reminder of the fragile state of justice and human rights, continue to plague societies worldwide. These senseless murders, perpetrated by those sworn to protect, erode trust and undermine democratic institutions. It's time to confront this scourge head-on.

Data from human rights organizations reveal a disturbing surge in extrajudicial killings globally. Vulnerable populations—minorities, activists, and journalists—bear the brunt. Impunity fuels this cycle of violence, as perpetrators evade accountability.

In conclusion, extrajudicial killings betray the fundamental pact between citizens and the state. Breaking the cycle of impunity requires collective action. Governments, civil society, and individuals must unite to safeguard human rights and restore justice.

How can we possibly lessen or stop EJK??

I came up with various ideas on how we can help to lessen or better yet put an end to it;

Police Reform: Police forces need to be professionalized, equipped with proper training, and held accountable for their actions. This includes promoting a culture of respect for human rights and due process.

Witness Protection: Effective witness protection programs are crucial to encourage victims and witnesses to come forward and provide evidence in EJK cases.

Body Cameras: Mandating the use of body cameras for law enforcement officers can provide valuable evidence in EJK cases and deter misconduct.

Reminder that this is only my idea on how to stop it, based on some researches EJKs can not be stopped, but I always believe that it should not be done anymore, and start to care about our Human Rights.

FACTUAL INFORMATION!!

Some of the children were deliberately killed according to the report, with police potentially targeting those who had witnessed another killing, or claiming they were acting in self-defence. In other cases, children were killed as proxies when the real targets could not be found, as a result of mistaken identities, or were hit by stray bullets, the report says.

The 122 deaths documented are likely an underestimate, since relatives are often threatened by police and told not to contact human rights groups for help. Activists also face constant harassment.

Standing Up for Justice: Combating Extrajudicial Killings and Supporting Survivors

Standing up for justice: stopping extrajudicial killings, supporting survivors
Extrajudicial killings constitute a severe violation of human rights, as they leave a trail of pain and injustice in their wake. These happen to be murders executed either by the state or non-state actors, without the due processes of the law, which usually target people based on their race, religion, political beliefs, or social status.

EJKs take away innocent lives; destroy families, communities, and society itself; create a climate of fear, silence dissent, and erode trust in authorities. Victims often bear deep physical and emotional scars in moving forward to pursue justice or rebuild their lives.

This is the call of collective action: to raise our voices in demanding justice for survivors of EJK, standing as one against perpetrators of such atrocity, and counting on support for victims and their families.
