HIGHER and Beyond: 514 North High completers rise to the beat of leadership and character

Cheers, applause, and rising pride filled the General Trias Convention & Cultural Center on March 31, 2026, as 514 Grade 10 completers of DepEd Tayo-Luis Y. Ferrer, Jr. North NHS General Trias City marked a defining milestone in the school’s 10th Moving Up Ceremony. Carried by the theme “Filipino Graduates: Prepared to Lead with Competence and Character (Pilipinong Nagsipagtapos: Handang Mamuno nang May Kakayahan at Mabuting Pagkatao)”, the ceremony celebrated resilience, excellence, and hope, energized by the pulse of the hype anthem “Hawak mo ang Beat.”

School Head Dr. Naneth S. Panganiban - Salvador formally opened the ceremony and introduced the guest speaker, reminding the completers that leadership is anchored on values and discipline. “As ‘Hawak mo ang Beat’ reminds us, North High learners lead their own rhythm - teady in competence, strong in character, and brave enough to move higher,” Dr. Salvador said. In a second message, she affirmed the school’s mission: “Today proves that when educators and families move as one, our graduates step forward prepared to lead - may kabutihang-loob at kahusayan.”

Gracing the occasion as Guest Speaker, Dr. Ivan Brian Inductivo, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of General Trias City, offered words that resonated deeply with the completers. “Gold does not shine unless it passes through fire - and you, our completers, have proven that every challenge refined your competence and character,” he said. He added, “Keep the beat you’ve learned here; when life quickens the tempo, lead with purpose and integrity.”

Also present were key education and community leaders, including Hon. Konsikap Jowie Sinsay Carampot S. Carampot, Barangay Captain of Pasong Camachile II; SPTA President Ms. Danielle Ada Casuyon; and Ms. Arlene Malabanan Hernandez, Public Schools District Supervisor of Deped Tayo General Trias City - Cluster 9 - each lending support to the school community. Representing the Office of the Vice Mayor, the message underscored unity and youth empowerment. “The City believes in you - lead with competence, serve with character, and let your heartbeat for service set the city’s rhythm,” the representative shared. In a second quote, the message rang clear: “As the beat rises, so should your sense of responsibility to community and country.”

For parents, the ceremony was a moment of triumph and gratitude. “Seeing my child move up today is a reward for every sacrifice - North High shaped not just skills but values,” said a smiling parent. Another added, “From teachers to staff, thank you for keeping the beat steady for our children, especially in the hardest days.”

The completers themselves echoed pride and appreciation. “This ceremony tells us we’re ready, academically and morally- to move higher,” shared a student leader. Another completer said, “North High taught us to hold the beat of discipline, teamwork, and hope; thank you for believing in us.”

Throughout the program, the atmosphere reflected joy and resolve, parents beamed, teachers applauded, and guests stood in solidarity with the graduates’ next steps. The message was clear: leadership begins with character, and excellence thrives where community stands together.

As 514 North High completers embraced victory and scaled new heights, Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. North National High School once again affirmed its legacy of nurturing future-ready Filipinos—handang mamuno, guided by competence, grounded in values, and confident to lead with the beat firmly in their hands. ~ Jhigz Domingo, TNT

HAPPENING NOW | North High brings hope, joy to Mama's Hope Haven community, conducts outreach activity

DepEd Tayo-Luis Y. Ferrer, Jr. North NHS General Trias City (LYFJNNHS) demonstrated compassion in action as its Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (ESP) Department spearheaded an outreach program at Mama’s Hope Haven of Norway, Inc. in General Trias City on March 20. Led by Ms. Sisa E. Ebillo, the initiative brought together educators committed to extending care and kindness to the haven’s orphans and elderly residents, transforming an ordinary day into a meaningful celebration of empathy and service.

In collaboration with Passion City Church, the activity highlighted spiritual wellness, centering on reflections and teachings from God’s Word. The program created a nurturing space where both volunteers and beneficiaries could share moments of faith, encouragement, and connection. At least 25 teachers from North High actively participated, offering not only their time but also genuine warmth and concern to uplift the spirits of those in the shelter.

Supervised on-site by Master Teacher I Mr. Erwin A. Asugui, with virtual support from Dr. Naneth S. Panganiban - Salvador, the outreach continues to unfold with a series of games and entertainment activities designed to bring joy and laughter. More than a simple visit, the initiative stands as a testament to the school’s enduring commitment to community engagement—reminding everyone present that compassion, when shared, becomes a powerful force for hope. ~ Jhigz Domingo, TNT

UNITED FOR WELLNESS | North High strengthens mental health advocacy in schoolwide wellness assembly

More than 60 students, about 40 teachers, and two parents of DepEd Tayo-Luis Y. Ferrer, Jr. North NHS General Trias City (LYFJNNHS) gathered at the school’s covered court from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on March 10, 2026, for a mental wellness program anchored on the theme “Together as One for Wellness: Nurturing Positive Mental Health in Education.” The activity emphasized the shared responsibility of the school and the wider Barangay Pasong Camachile II community, led by Barangay Captain Hon. Jowie Sinsay Carampot, in supporting the mental well-being of learners and educators.

The program, supervised by Principal Dr. Naneth S. Panganiban - Salvador, opened with welcome remarks from Ms. Nancy Sumagui Reyes and was hosted by Ms. Nadine Mogol, who ensured a smooth and engaging flow of activities. School officials underscored that the event forms part of the ongoing effort to integrate mental health awareness into the school’s culture and daily routines.

Dr. Salvador highlighted the importance of nurturing a compassionate school environment. “At North High, we aim to cultivate a learning space where academic rigor thrives alongside emotional well-being. When students feel safe, supported, and understood, true learning happens,” she said, noting the administration’s commitment to sustaining holistic care.

The program featured informative talks from SGC President Ms. Mildred Simpelo Carampot, SPTA President Ms. Danielle Ada Casuyon, and guest speaker Ms. Theresa Yemma A. Calubag, who collectively tackled the benefits of maintaining positive mental health, the causes and effects of emotional distress, and practical strategies learners can apply in school and at home.

Ms. Carampot stressed the value of united community efforts in protecting student welfare. “Student well-being is a shared duty. When families, school leaders, and the barangay work together, we create a layered support system that keeps our children emotionally secure,” she said, thanking local leaders for their continued partnership.

Representing the parent sector, Ms. Casuyon emphasized the critical role of home-based support. “Parents are partners in wellness. When we establish routines that encourage rest, open conversations, and kindness at home, we reinforce what the school teaches about healthy coping,” she explained, encouraging families to model positive behaviors.

Participants also engaged in guided stretching exercises, which facilitators said help reveal early signs of physical stress, such as shoulder stiffness or tension, often linked to academic fatigue, screen exposure, or emotional strain. The activity encouraged attendees to observe their bodies as part of mindful self-care.

In her keynote message, Ms. Calubag delivered a reflective call for empathy. “Let’s be mindful in everything we do, we say – think positively, and practice self-care. Consider that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you may know nothing about. Be kind always,” she said, receiving warm applause from students and teachers.

The program aligns with the school’s implementation of mental health initiatives consistent with the School-Based Mental Health Program, emphasizing early identification of concerns, timely referrals, and initiatives that combat stigma. Teachers were encouraged to use available DepEd-developed psychosocial tools to support learners more effectively.

Two student participants shared how the event shifted their awareness of emotional health. “I learned that stress can show up even when we don’t notice it. Today taught me to pause, breathe, and be kinder to myself,” said one Grade 10 learner. Another added, “Checking on our friends matters. Sometimes a simple question can help someone feel less alone.”

Teachers likewise expressed commitment to integrating wellness into their practice. One MAPEH teacher shared, “Short wellness breaks in class can help reset students’ focus. Even a two-minute stretch can lower tension and improve engagement.” Science Teacher Mr. Jhigz Domingo added, “Recognizing early signs of emotional distress allows us to guide students to the right support systems before challenges escalate.”

The event concluded with a quiet reflection activity, allowing participants to process insights and set personal intentions for maintaining healthier routines. North High hopes that the program will strengthen its culture of care and inspire students and teachers to practice mindfulness, compassion, and help seeking behaviors long after the event.

General Trias, Cavite – Long before the sun rose, students from Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. North National High School were already gathering for one of the most anticipated activities for this school year: the film showing at Robinsons General Trias entitled "Old Skool." With jeeps lined up and both teachers and SPTA(School Parent-Teacher Association) coordinating every detail, the event promised both entertainment and a shared cultural experience.

The first batch, composed of Grades 7 and 9, faced an early call time of 5:00 AM. By 5:30, the group departed from the phase 6 Covered Court, their excitement undimmed by the hour. Assigned to cinemas 2, 4, 5, and 6, they were scheduled to watch their film from 8:00 to 9:45 AM.

Two hours later, the second batch prepared for their turn. Grades 8 and 10 assembled at the same venue at 7:00 AM, departing by 7:30. Their screening was set from 10:00 to 11:45 AM, with cinemas 1, 2, and 4 designated for their viewing.

Organizers stressed the importance of punctuality, reminding students to arrive at Robinsons General Trias at least one hour before their scheduled viewing time. “Even if it’s so early, we’re excited to go together,” said Rhianne Rose E. Ibal, a Grade 7 Corinthians student. “It feels worth waking up before sunrise because we know it’s going to be fun.”

Teachers and coordinators played a vital role in guiding the students, from assembly to departure and arrival. Their presence provided structure and safety, allowing the large groups to move efficiently while maintaining discipline.

For many students, the film showing was more than just a break from routine. It was a chance to bond with classmates, share reactions, and enjoy a collective experience that strengthened school spirit. “It’s exciting to watch together as a batch,” shared Iyahna Alegria, a Grade 10 Duty student. “It feels different when you’re surrounded by friends and classmates.”

The event also highlighted the school’s commitment to balancing academics with cultural enrichment. By organizing activities like these, administrators emphasized the value of learning beyond textbooks, encouraging students to appreciate art and storytelling in different forms.

As the screenings concluded, students carried home not only the memory of the films but also the joy of spending time together as a community. The film showing stood out as a reminder that education thrives when paired with creativity, camaraderie, and shared experiences.

BIG BANG! North High educators ignite stellar triumphs at 3rd quarter North Star Awards

Beneath a velvet sky that seemed to mirror its own constellation of achievers, DepEd Tayo-Luis Y. Ferrer, Jr. North NHS General Trias City (LYFJNNHS) gathered at Carasuchi Villa Garden, Indang, Cavite on February 6, 2026, for the 3rd Quarter North Star Awarding Ceremony – a night devoted to purpose, precision, and the kind of steady brilliance that helps a community navigate by true north.

In an inspirational message, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ivan Brian Inductivo, CESO VI drew a powerful parallel between leadership and Polaris. “Always look at the North Star for guidance,” he urged, noting that while it isn’t the brightest, it is the most constant – “the one that never changes its place,” a beacon for service that leads communities forward.

The program’s orbit expanded with insights from Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) Ms. Arlene Malabanan Hernandez and Education Program Supervisor (EPS) in Values Education Dr. Rizal Vidallo, whose messages reinforced the evening’s theme: progress is sustained not by meteoric flashes but by the disciplined gravity of consistency, collaboration, and care for learners.

Across the ceremony, school leaders, partners, and educators reflected on a quarter’s journey – small, steady acts of excellence aligning like stars into patterns of genuine improvement in classrooms, offices, and communities. The message was unmistakable: when every unit shines with purpose, the whole galaxy glows.

Crowning the constellation of honorees were Outstanding Master Teacher Erwin A. Asugui, Outstanding Teacher Gigi Lyn Valerio Aticaldo, and Outstanding Council Head Elena S. Rosales – luminaries whose daily orbits have tangibly elevated teaching, mentoring, and governance at North High.

In leadership, the Leadership Excellence Award recognized Erwin A. Asugui for exemplary integrity and influence – proof that true leaders don’t merely burn bright; they help others find their bearings.

For exemplary service that keeps systems humming and students thriving, the Service Excellence Award honored Janet G. Asis, Erwin A. Asugui, Elena S. Rosales, Elmer P. Casajeros, and Marites T. Timana – professionals known for reliability, responsiveness, and a culture of care.

Operational stars shone in administration, with the Administrative Excellence Award presented to Jeroel E. Papa and Angelica S. Panganiban for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance that ensure every policy translates into practice.

Teams thrive when support is steady as a satellite’s orbit; the Team Support Excellence Award celebrated Edwin P. Santos, Kristine R. Carlon, Vergie D. Paredes, Nancy S. Reyes, Joyce Anne A. Ambata, Joy Ann M. Banning, Jenah S. Aniban, Edna A. Mari, Genesis D. Montaño, and Jogelyn Vilareal for elevating programs, activities, and day-to-day operations through quiet, dependable collaboration.

Professional stature also took center stage: Model of Professionalism Award honoree Arsenio C. Dagundon exemplified ethical conduct and collegial leadership, while the Department Support Award cited Lea M. Dasas, Arlan R. Palugar, Alfred P. Borazon, Benjamin Jr. A. Bodiit, and Chinkee Mae A. Dechavez for behind-the-scenes constellations of help that make teaching and learning seamless. In quality systems, Angel P. Macarandang earned the QMS Excellence Award for strengthening compliant, learner-centered processes.

Teaching brilliance radiated across grade levels. The Teaching Excellence Award recognized a galaxy of mentors: Rosalie E. Medes, Irine D. Macalindong, Alain C. Castor, Kimberly Del Mundo, Khristine R. Carlon, Elmer P. Casajeros, Inky Jane E. Latumbo, Sisa E. Ebillo, Mary Joyce C. Galos, Joyce Ann A. Ambata, Chinkee Mae A. Dechavez, Via Faye M. Porto, Ferdinand A. Buenaventura, Ginalyn M. Cabudoy, Kimberly Rose E. Manipud, Reynaldo F. Galos, Gigi Lyn V. Aticaldo, and Erwin A. Asugui.

Partnerships formed the school’s nebula of shared purpose. The Community Partnership and Learning Environment Award honored Babeth G. Casajeros, Zenaida A. Ayson, Kimberly E. Manipud, Ana Claire R. Bataller, and Nadinne M. Mogol for mobilizing resources and goodwill that tangibly improved student experiences.

Driving whole-of-school initiatives, PPA Champion Award honorees Babeth G. Casajeros, Marites C. Timana, Edwin P. Santos, Chrismy B. Almonacid, Janet G. Asis, Via Fhaye M. Porto, Kristine R. Carlon, and Ginalyn M. Cabudoy stood out for advocacy and sustained implementation. The PPA Implementer Award recognized Kevin P. Butil, Margie L. Rodriguez, Romeo J. Dolor, Jr., and Liezel D. Globio for disciplined ex*****on aligned with the School Improvement Plan.

Where academic “galaxies” perform in orbit together, departments and councils shined. Best Performing Department laurels went to MAPEH, English, and ESP; the Performing Council citation hailed Grade 7, Grade 8, Grade 9, and Grade 10 as models of targets met through collaborative stewardship. Classrooms ascended, too: Most Improved Classroom honorees included 7–Ephesians, 7–Hebrews, Empathy, and 10–Fairness.

The school also celebrated professional growth trajectories – Project STREAMLINE Advocates Jogelyn A. Villaroel, Arla Renz P. Palugar, Margie L. Rodriguez, Inky Jane Latumbo, Jherlynne Sulit, Gigi Lyn V. Aticaldo, and Elena S. Rosales; reclassifications under ERF (including Elena S. Rosales, Gigi Lyn V. Aticaldo, Vergie D. Paredes, Marites C. Macalindong, Lyca Vanesa L. Neo, Liezel Deliva Globio, Joyce Ann A. Ambata). The roll of MA in Education completers – Kimberly M. Del Mundo, Rosalie E. Medes, Joy Ann M. Banning, Lea M. Dasas, Joyce Ann A. Ambata – highlighted sustained scholarly pursuit.

Longevity anchored the constellation’s center of gravity: 10 Years in Service honorees Vergie D. Paredes, Chrismy B. Almonacid, Kimberly Rose E. Manipud, Joanalyn T. De Guzman, Ryan Edel S. Abueg, Archie C. Dagundon, and Alain C. Castor joined 5 Years in Service awardees Victor V. Matipo, Leonila S. Arcueno, Emely T. Matipo, and Myra B. Paulino in reminding the community that excellence is a marathon paced by commitment.

From the principal’s desk came heartfelt applause. “Our awardees are the school’s guiding lights,” said Dr. Naneth S. Panganiban - Salvador, North High Principal. “Your steady brilliance – day after day—turns plans into performance and aspirations into outcomes for our learners.”

Dr. Inductivo echoed the chorus: “North High’s constellation has become a navigational map for the Division and beyond. Your consistency creates a pathway others can follow.” Ms. Arlene M. Hernandez added, “This is what instructional leadership looks like when everyone rows in rhythm – measurable gains grounded in everyday excellence.” Dr. Rizal Vidallo affirmed, “Values education lives here – in the respect, resilience, and responsibility we see in every awardee.”

Parents and partners joined the ovation. SPTA President Ms. Danielle Ada Casuyon noted, “With teachers and staff like these, every learner finds a star to steer by.” SPTA Vice President Ms. Cecil Abarollo said, “The ripple of your service reaches homes and hopes.” SGC’s Ms. Mildred Simpelo Carampot underscored the community impact: “Your work elevates Barangay Pasong Camachile II and the City of General Trias – proof of what schools can do when service is steadfast.”

The celebration also marked a broader horizon: stakeholders hailed North High’s back-to-back recognition as Best Performing Public High School in CALABARZON, while spotlighting the regionally acclaimed leadership of Outstanding Master Teacher Erwin A. Asugui and Outstanding High School Teacher Gigi Lyn V. Aticaldo – further proof that when North High charts a course, it stays the course.

As the evening drew to a close, the community renewed its pledge to remain guided by purpose – and to keep shining through service. Like the North Star anchoring travelers across ages, North High’s dedication to learners remains fixed and true: steady, purposeful, and inspiring – lighting the way for the quarter ahead, and the futures still to be mapped.~ Jhigz Domingo, TNT

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — Parents, teachers, students, and partners of DepEd Tayo-Luis Y. Ferrer, Jr. North NHS General Trias City gathered on campus for the third quarter School Organizational and Stakeholders Assembly (SOSA), a policy-and-progress briefing that highlighted learner achievements, reported on project milestones, and laid out next steps to strengthen safety, inclusion, and instructional excellence.

“The SOSA is our public commitment,” Principal Dr. Naneth S. Panganiban - Salvador said in her opening. “We account for results, update you on ongoing works, and present responsible plans—always centered on the physical and psychological safety of learners and the delivery of inclusive, high quality education.”

Academic, journalism, and culture-and-arts recognitions were among the highlights, with learners earning citations from school and cluster events up to division and regional stages, alongside international exposures through webinars and collaborative projects. “Our students continue to excel in literacy, culture, and language,” said Ms. Irine D. Macalindong, Filipino Department head. “We see growth in skill and in character—precisely the formation we aim for.”

Holistic development through wellness, arts, and sports also took center stage. “We invest in the whole child,” noted Mr. Erwin A. Asugui, MAPEH coordinator. “Regular wellness sessions, performances, and sustained sports training keep students active, engaged, and disciplined, while reinforcing teamwork, grit, and respect.”

Student journalists said the program strengthens voice and visibility. “We are heard and given chances to improve,” shared Althea Faye Diaz, campus journalist. “From press conferences to workshops, the school backs us with coaching and venues to practice responsible, ethical storytelling.”

Facilities and systems upgrades were reported as on track. Safety works such as improved egress routes, organized disposal of damaged materials, and learning space enhancements were complemented by tech enabled, paper light processes for faster transactions and monitoring. “Tangible improvements matter,” said parent leader Mrs. Pacis. “Cleaner rooms, safer exits, and simpler systems mean a better school day for our children.”

Looking ahead, the school outlined priorities to deepen safety and inclusion: augmenting CCTVs and alarms, expanding guidance and mental health services, and strengthening programs for learners with special educational needs (LSENs). “No learner should be left behind,” Dr. Salvador emphasized. “From screening and referral to classroom support and family engagement, inclusion is not an add on—it is the standard.”

The assembly also underscored community linkages with Barangay Pasong Camachile II, led by Hon. Barangay Captain Jowie Sinsay Carampot, SGC President Mrs. Mildred Simpelo Carampot, the City Government of General Trias, and the Schools Division of General Trias City. Parent teacher coordination remains strong through the SPTA. “Transparency turns parents into true partners,” said Mrs. Danielle Ada Casuyon, SPTA president. “When we understand the data and timelines, we can mobilize resources quickly for learners who need help most.”

Student athletes affirmed that balanced support for academics and sports remains steady. “Training, clinics, and clear schedules help us compete and keep up with classwork,” said Mark Ezekie Y. Agang, athlete journalist. “That balance lets us represent the school with pride.”

Learners in STEM, arts, and campus press programs said the roadmap is motivating. “Focused support in research, design, and storytelling pushes us to higher stages,” added Abigail Celestial, student leader. “It’s clearer how we can progress from division to regional platforms—and beyond.”

Teachers said the open forum built trust and alignment. “The principal answered questions directly and kindly,” Ms. Macalindong observed. “Parents left with clarity on needs and timelines.” Mr. Asugui added, “Regular, honest updates keep everyone pointed at the same goals: safety, inclusion, and strong learning outcomes.”

Dr. Salvador framed SOSA as a DepEd-aligned management tool that empowers recognition, engagement, and improvement. “SOSA lets us pause to honor hard work, engage stakeholders, and correct gaps,” she said. “It strengthens resource stewardship and grows leaders—because school heads also learn to communicate better, decide better, and lead better.”

Before adjourning, administrators detailed next actions: safety equipment procurement, wider reading interventions, enriched STEM projects, and expanded industry linkages for career exposure. “With your constant support—from our stakeholders and parents to the barangay, the City Government of General Trias, and our Schools Division—we will sustain inclusive, future ready learning for every North High student,” Dr. Salvador said. “We are moving forward stronger together as one.”
