We, the undersigned youth and civic organizations affiliated with the Youth Coalition for Good Governance - Philippines, express our support for the newly established Senate Majority and its efforts to ensure that the Senate stays functioning, accountable, and responsive.

Public office constitutes a public trust. The Filipino people need leaders who are present, active, and dedicated to carrying out their constitutional duties. Leadership necessitates duty, accountability, and active service to the country.

In view of recent developments, we call for Senator Alan Peter Cayetano's resignation as Senate President, and we ask the Senate to go on with leadership that reflects the majority's confidence and the Filipino people's expectations.

This appeal is based on our common conviction that people who actively carry out their duties and uphold the greatest standards of public service must lead democratic institutions, not on personalities or partisan interests.
A functional Senate is something that the Filipino people deserve. They demand leaders who are dependable, capable, and prioritize the interests of the country.

As groups dedicated to democratic participation, accountability, transparency, and good governance, we are unwavering in our support of institutions that serve the public with honesty and commitment.

We urge senators to act in the Filipino people's best interests and to back an accountable, effective Senate leadership that reflects the confidence of the majority. This nation deserves leaders who serve, a functioning Senate, and a government that prioritizes the needs of its citizens. Now is the moment to take decisive action.

JUST IN: Roje Jhev Villanueva, National President of the Liwanag Youth Organization-National, has officially declared his candidacy for National President of the Youth Coalition for Good Governance – Philippines.

Villanueva formally filed his Certificate of Candidacy under the Liwanag Party, carrying a platform anchored on unity, transparency, ethical leadership, and youth empowerment.

JUST IN: The Youth Coalition for Good Governance releases an official Joint Statement regarding the Senate Incident that transpired last night, May 13, 2026.

The coalition strongly condemned the reported violence and firearm discharge inside the Senate of the Philippines, emphasizing that the institution must remain a symbol of democracy, accountability, and the rule of law.

Filipino Version:

“Mariing kinokondena ng Youth Coalition for Good Governance ang anumang uri ng karahasan at pagpapaputok sa loob ng Senado ng Pilipinas — isang institusyong dapat nagsisilbing simbolo ng batas, demokrasya, at tiwala ng sambayanang Pilipino.

Nanawagan kami sa lahat ng sangkot na agad tumigil, sumunod sa batas, at pairalin ang kapayapaan kaysa kaguluhan. Hinihikayat din namin si Ronald dela Rosa at iba pang mga opisyal na maging halimbawa ng pananagutan sa halip na pagtakas dito. Ang tunay na lider ay hindi natatakot humarap sa katotohanan at managot sa taumbayang kaniyang sinumpaang paglingkuran.

Hindi armas, dahas, o pananakot ang sagot sa mga isyung kinahaharap ng bansa. Ang kailangan ng Pilipinas ay mga lingkod-bayang may integridad, disiplina, at malasakit sa mamamayan.

Ang Senado ay para sa bayan — hindi para maging lugar ng takot, kaguluhan, at kapangyarihang umaabuso sa batas.”

English Translation:

“The Youth Coalition for Good Governance unequivocally condemns any and all acts of violence, including the discharge of fi****ms, within the premises of the Senate of the Philippines — an institution that must at all times uphold and embody the rule of law, democratic principles, and the public trust vested by the Filipino people.

We hereby call upon all parties involved to immediately cease and desist from any unlawful or disruptive conduct, to fully comply with existing laws and legal processes, and to prioritize peace, order, and institutional integrity over conflict and disorder. We likewise urge Ronald dela Rosa and all other concerned public officials to demonstrate accountability and responsible leadership rather than evade legal and moral obligations.

A true public servant does not fear confronting the truth nor answering to the people whom he has sworn to serve. Violence, intimidation, and the use of force are neither lawful nor appropriate remedies to the challenges presently confronting the nation.

What the Republic of the Philippines requires are public officials who exemplify integrity, discipline, competence, and genuine concern for the welfare of the citizenry. The Senate exists for the service of the Filipino people, not as a venue for fear, chaos, or the abuse of authority and power beyond the bounds of law.”

STATEMENT ON THE IMPEACHMENT OF SARA DUTERTE

Naninindigan ang Liwanag Youth Organization sa panawagan para sa patas, matapang, at makatarungang pagganap ng Senado sa nagpapatuloy na proseso ng impeachment. Higit ito sa politika, higit ito sa pangalan ng mga makapangyarihang pamilya, at higit ito sa pansariling interes. Ang tunay na mahalaga rito ay ang katotohanan, pananagutan, at ang tiwala ng taumbayan sa ating mga institusyon.

Sa panahon ngayon na maraming Pilipino ang hirap sa araw-araw na pamumuhay, nagtatrabaho nang marangal, nagbabayad ng buwis, at umaasang may gobyernong tunay na naglilingkod, hindi dapat talikuran ng Senado ang tungkulin nitong itaguyod ang Konstitusyon at pairalin ang hustisya. Ang anumang pagtatangkang ipagpaliban, pahinain, o gawing pulitikal ang proseso ay lalo lamang nagpapalalim sa pagkadismaya at kawalan ng tiwala ng mamamayan.

Ang buong bansa ay nakamasid. Ang kasaysayan ay nakamasid. Ang impeachment na ito ay pagsubok ng prinsipyo, integridad, at tapang ng bawat mambabatas. A true Senator does not kneel before power — a true Senator defends the Constitution and the people. Proceed with the impeachment trial forthwith.

National President Villanueva responds to a youth defending VP Sara Duterte and labeling those who demand accountability as “Anti-Duterte.”

"I respect that everyone has their own opinions and beliefs. Pero sana maintindihan ninyo na ang public discourse hindi lang basta pagsasalita. It’s about making sense. Hindi puwedeng puro depensa lang, dapat may malinaw na basehan.

Sa totoo lang, what you’re doing isn’t defending with facts. It’s defending with bias. At bilang kabataan, we should know better than to blindly support any politician without questioning them. Hindi ito loyalty test.

Tigilan na natin ang paglalabel. Hindi lahat ng sumusuporta sa accountability ay ‘Anti-Duterte.’ Mali ang framing na iyon. Marami sa amin ay pro-accountability. Ibig sabihin, kahit sino pa ang nasa posisyon, dapat marunong managot.

At dito pumapasok ang problema sa ilan. Kapag pabor sa inyo, tahimik. Kapag kinwestyon, biglang ‘paninira’ o ‘anti.’ That’s not critical thinking. That’s blind loyalty.

Simple lang ang issue. Pondo ng bayan iyan. May karapatan ang taumbayan na magtanong kung paano ginastos ang milyon-milyong pera. Hindi ito personal na atake. Responsibility ito. At huwag ninyong idahilan yung ‘yung iba nga mas malaki ang ninakaw.’ That kind of reasoning only normalizes corruption. Mali ay mali, kahit sentimo pa iyan.

Impeachment is not about automatic removal. Isa itong proseso para imbestigahan, para panagutin, at para siguraduhin na may transparency. Kung walang itinatago, bakit matatakot sa proseso?

Kung tunay kayong para sa bayan, hindi dapat selective ang accountability ninyo. Hindi puwedeng tahimik kapag ‘kampi’ at maingay lang kapag ‘kalaban.’

Hindi ito pagiging anti-Duterte.
Ito ay pagiging pro-katotohanan, pro-transparency, at pro-Pilipino."

“4Ps beneficiaries are not the problem—they’re taxpayers too. Every hard-earned peso they spend is taxed. They were never informed, never consulted—especially about unjust additional charges on other people’s Meralco bills. So don’t blame struggling Filipinos for a policy they didn’t create. Hold the right people accountable—the real failure is the broken system and the government behind it.”
