In line with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), Bukid Kabataan conducted a short session on cyber safety last November 26, facilitated by Ms. Cyvelle Benavente, RSW.

The activity was participated in by Grades 4, 5, and 6 students of Caritas Bukid Kabataan Elementary School, together with selected staff and program participants of the Bukid Kabataan Center.

Cyber safety is an important topic for children, especially as more young people are becoming active online for learning, communication, and entertainment. With early exposure to the internet and social media, young users are more vulnerable to online risks such as identity theft, grooming, cyberbullying, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse. Because of this, educating children early on helps them recognize unsafe behaviors, develop responsible online habits, and learn how to protect themselves and others.

Through this session, Bukid Kabataan aims to empower children to use digital platforms wisely, set healthy boundaries, and make informed decisions online. By introducing cyber safety at a young age, we help build a safer digital environment where children can explore, learn, and connect without compromising their well-being.

Bakit Nov 25 at bakit orange? 🧡

Sa pagsisimula ng 16-day campaign (18 days in the Philippines) laban sa karahasan sa mga kababaihan sa Archdiocese of Lipa, ipinaliwanag ni Sr Ailyn Binco, RGS, ang kasaysayan at kahulugan ng araw at kampanyang ito sa pagtitipon na ginawa sa St Bridget College kahapon.

Nov 25 was designated as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women in 1991 to commemorate the courage and sacrifice of the Mirabal sisters (Patria, Minerva and María Teresa) of Dominican Republic, who in 1960, stood against the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo and were assassinated on Nov 25.

Orange signifies the bright future we dream of, hope for, and work toward for women and girls - a future without violence.

The dream destination is a VAW-free country, and our commitment today determines where we will be tomorrow.

As the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) spearheads the national 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, we call on every Filipino to move from awareness to action, from advocacy to activism, and from watchers to warriors.

This is more than an invitation; it is a shared national responsibility to ensure every woman and girl lives free from fear, abuse, and violence.

A VAW-free Philippines gives us the following signals for action:
• 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 violence against women. Women’s rights are human rights.
• 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 beyond silence. Do not judge a story you don’t fully know.
• 𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗡 with compassion. Put yourself in the shoes of victim-survivors, and champion their right to safety, dignity, and justice.

Ending VAW rests on all of us. Let us rise as one, stand UNiTEd, and build a VAW-free Philippines!

Last October 25, 2025, we joyfully celebrated our Benefactors’ Day as part of our 25th Founding Anniversary — a day of thanksgiving and shared stories of love, faith, and shepherding hearts toward healing and hope.

To our benefactors, volunteers, and donors — both those who celebrated with us and those who couldn’t be there — taos-puso kaming nagpapasalamat for walking with us in compassion and mission. ✨
