𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞: 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫

On April 24, 2026, the Rotary Club of Greater General Santos came together in a meaningful act of service through a tree-growing activity along the Buayan River in Purok Camasi, Barangay Ligaya, General Santos City.

In partnership with the Local Government Unit of General Santos City, through its City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the initiative brought together passionate individuals united by a shared purpose. Forty (40) dedicated Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of the University of Sto. Tomas – General Santos City Campus actively participated, guided by their adviser, Dr. Gina de Guzman—Dean of the College of Engineering and current President of the Rotary Club of Polomolok 101.

The activity was further strengthened by the presence and support of the Barangay Council of Ligaya, represented by one of their Kagawads, and the Purok Chairman of Camasi—highlighting the power of community collaboration.

Held in celebration of Earth Month, the initiative aligned with Rotary’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Bamboo trees were carefully planted along the riverbanks, serving not only as symbols of hope but as natural protectors—helping prevent soil erosion and reducing the risk of flooding in the area.

Among those who led by example from the Rotary Club of Greater General Santos were Past District Deputy Governor Fidelina Eullaran, Past President Tess Napala, Past President Ester Marian Balolot, Past President Lindalee Anos, Past President Ginalyn Fe Cachuela, and President-Elect Riza Marie Paches.

More than just planting trees, the activity planted purpose—reminding us that when communities unite, small actions grow into lasting impact.

𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝟑𝟖𝟔𝟎 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕

From April 16 to 18, 2026, the President-elect and Secretary-elect of the Rotary Club of Greater General Santos stepped into a powerful season of preparation as they joined the District 3860 PELS–SELS, DTLS, and CLLS in Koronadal City.

More than just a training, the three-day gathering became a meaningful journey of growth, alignment, and purpose—preparing incoming leaders to serve with intention for Rotary Year 2026–2027 under the inspiring theme, “𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭.”

Guided by District Governor-Elect Arlene Juele Adlawan, the sessions centered on purposeful leadership. Her message was clear and compelling: strong clubs build strong communities. She highlighted the value of the Club Service Award as a reminder that excellence within the club translates to greater service beyond it.

The program brought vision to life through action. District Governor Nominee Edwin M. Valencia led a thought-provoking session on “Moving Towards Our Vision through Strategic Priorities,” emphasizing that real impact begins with clarity, alignment, and decisive action. District goals were also laid out—calling every club to increase impact, expand reach, and strengthen adaptability in the coming Rotary year.

Incoming Presidents were equipped with practical tools to lead with confidence—from strategic planning and sustainable project implementation to strengthening The Rotary Foundation, enhancing public image, growing membership, and embracing digital transformation. The District Team Learning Seminar (DTLS), ably moderated by PDS Elvie Albano of RC Greater Gensan, further prepared district officers to serve effectively in their respective roles.

One of the most memorable moments was the induction of District Governor-Elect Arlene Adlawan alongside the incoming club Presidents—a symbolic passing of responsibility and renewed commitment to service. The Grants Management Seminar also empowered clubs with the knowledge to access resources that will turn their service visions into reality.

Beyond knowledge, the event created something deeper—connection. It strengthened fellowship, built camaraderie, and nurtured lasting relationships among Rotarians.

In the end, it was more than a gathering. It was a shared commitment—to lead with heart, to serve with purpose, and to create a lasting impact in every community we touch.

We successfully held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the construction of a classroom at Cabansal M. Larry IP School, intended to serve our IP communities in Maasim—a step forward in providing better access to education.

Held at Greenleaf Hotel, the celebration honored our legacy, strengthened friendships, and reminded us of our shared mission to serve.

We are especially grateful for the presence and support of AG Mark Jerome Tiongson and Atty. Josemar Albano, whose time and encouragement made the celebration even more meaningful.
