To equip the youth in General Santos to fight disinformation and promote the right to information, Kidlikasan and other GenSan's youth-led and youth-serving organizations partnered with three MSU-GenSan academic organizations to hold the 2nd YNFORM Grassroots Dialogue in the city, July 4, 2023.
After its successful run at Mindanao State University-GenSan, the Youth-led Network for the Right to Information (YNFORM) Grassroots Dialogue made a stop at the Kasfala Hall in the City Mayor's Office – Integrated Cultural Communities Affairs Division (CMO-ICCAD) Building, General Santos City, to train new organizations and schools to become YNFORMers.
The YNFORM speakers in the first half were Almirah Endomama, YNFORM Mindanao Area Coordinator, who discussed YNFORM and its goals; Aziza Eto, Secretary-General of Kidlikasan, who discussed the topic "What is 'Fake News'?"; and Rogelio Jenson Jr., Pingkian outgoing Editor-in-Chief, who discussed "Fact-Checking, Content Verification, and Social Media Research."
In the second half of the program, Gwyneth Pearl Javier, Executive Director of Kidlikasan, discussed "Climate and Environment Disinformation"; Bai Mariza Sabdula, Women Affairs Committee of UNYPAD, presented her topic "Business & Politics of Fake News"; and Jaysan Phillip Castro of SSC MSU-GenSan presented the recently concluded 1st Grassroots Dialogue and the importance of slogans in fighting disinformation.
Various schools and organizations answered the call and participated. Participants included academic and youth organizations such as Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, Ireneo L. Santiago National High School, and United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) – GSC Chapter.
Pingkian, Bagwis, and the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of MSU-GenSan partnered with Kidlikasan and UNYPAD to spearhead this event, together with YNFORM and the United States Government Alumni Association (USGAA-SOX).
