Because of the community’s vigilance, the reef destruction case is being taken seriously. 💙🌊

After the public outcry, both the LGU of General Luna and DENR SIPLAS responded quickly with inspections, a Notice of Violation, and even a Cease & Desist order. They confirmed what many of us feared: seagrass beds and reef rock formations—critical habitats and natural barriers from typhoons—were destroyed without clearance.

This is just the beginning. Accountability takes time, but the steps are moving. Let’s keep asking questions, demanding transparency, and showing up for SIPLAS.

Forty-six hawksbill sea turtle hatchlings—a critically endangered species—were successfully released back into their natural marine habitat in Brgy. Tangbo, Sta. Monica, Northern Siargao, with the assistance of our Project Lead, 🐢💚

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who supported and assisted in this release: Sir Manuel, Ma’am Kristyna Melindo, Sir Ian, and Miss Chie for their immediate concern. Our sincere thanks also go to DENR PAMO-SIPLAS and the LGU of Sta. Monica for their invaluable assistance and facilitation throughout the process.

This conservation effort is part of our ongoing mission to protect sea turtles and promote environmental stewardship. As the next step, we plan to conduct educational awareness campaigns on sea turtle conservation across the three barangays in Northern Siargao.

A Sea Turtle Nesting Site in North Siargao! 🏝️🐢

On June 20, 2025, a mother sea turtle laid her eggs along the shores of .iao , between Brgy. Garcia and Brgy. Alegria in Sta. Monica, Siargao.

Thanks to the quick action of Hilners resort staffs and SK Maureen, the nest is now safely fenced and monitored.

Verified by DENR-SIPLAS, this marks an important step in protecting marine life up north!

Team Building with a Theme and Purpose: Turtle Conservation in Focus

It was an inspiring gathering of conservation champions—resort owners, staff, families, and children—coming together for a meaningful one-day workshop dedicated to one of our most precious marine creatures: the sea turtle.

Organized by and Pawikan Café, the event offered participants deep insights into the biology of sea turtles, the Siargao Islands Protected Landscape and Seascape as a vital sanctuary, and the best practices for handling and conserving these incredible marine animals.

A day filled with learning, connection, and shared commitment to marine conservation.

Truly, by working hand in hand we can create ripples of lasting impact for our environment.

Two New Sea Turtle Nests Found in Isla Anajawan! 🐢🌴

Last April, our sea turtle patrollers—together with the passionate Paglajag Youth Patrollers—discovered two new nesting sites at Isla Anajawan! 💚

Every nest they protect is a lifeline for a critically endangered species. Their dedication ensures the future generations of sea turtles thrive in our oceans. 🌊✨

On May 2, 2025, 28 incredible youth volunteers joined our basic sea turtle handling training—ready to turn their care into action.

We are so proud of their courage, curiosity, and commitment. These are the conservation leaders of tomorrow. 🐢🌱

What an incredible way to kick off the year!

A sighting of a sea turtle was reported yesterday, and last night, folks from Isla La Januza, General Luna, discovered a new nesting site for sea turtle eggs. 🌊🐢

In 2024, we launched an educational campaign focused on sea turtle conservation. Even before that, Ms. and Kuya Bajon took the lead in protecting these magnificent creatures and raising awareness about their vital role in our oceans.

Shoutout to our amazing SeaWikan Patrollers, Ms. Ane and Kuya Bajon. Salamat, Karajaw!

Together, let’s continue our mission to safeguard Turtles and their habitat here on Siargao Island! 🏝️💚
